Ok so another question , if I remove my cat and put on an open downpipe and leave the rest of my exhaust ( minus the cat) will I have to do a retune?

I need some help guys , just as I knew it would happen a guy where I work has a 92 240 hatch with a stock sr20 , t28 turbo , and a tune but can't push no more than 18 psi and he wants to race my gst. His has completely stock internals just a bigger turbo. From what the previous owner told me about my gst is its mildly built with bigger pistons and other stuff , upgraded turbo and I can boost up to 30 psi. I'm sure I should be able to beat him but wanted to know for sure. He mentioned something about title for title but idk.

no you are just going to get maybe a little more power due to the increase in airflow no retune necessary.

Would I have a louder spool without the cat?

depends on the rest of the exhaust i had a full straight pipe on my gsx and a 16g and i could hear the turbo while idling. but now my talon has 2 resonators and a muffler and its a lot quieter.

I have a full 3 inch Megan exhaust. I figured taking the cat off and run an open downpipe with the rest of the 3 inch exhaust I would think the spool would be noticeable. I don't hear it spooling at all.

ya that should make a difference. i have a megan catless 3" dp mated to an srs catback and i can hear it pretty good until full boost my o2 dump just takes over.

Good deal. On my boosted hondas u could hear the spool just at normal speed and cruising. My gst is quiet and I don't like it

what size turbo you running on the gs-t?

My old boosted del sol sounded like an 18 wheeler when just cruising. I also picked up a 1g bov today. Going to slap it on and take the aftermarket knock off bov that's on it now off. Maybe that'll help a little.

Ok , got a 1g bov , going to the dgm on it this weekend. I was wondering if it's possible to just gut my cat to increase spool sound? Keeping my exhaust so it doesn't sound like I'm running straight header and getting the loud spool I want. I have the td05h turbo , injen intake with k&n filter , fmic and Megan exhaust. I just want a louder spool.[DOUBLEPOST=1412724412][/DOUBLEPOST]I put my 1g bov on my 97 gst today , the bov isn't modded but when I started down the road and started building boost my car kind of cut back and lost power. I ended up having to put my aftermarket bov back on the side of the road. What's the problem?
