What's the best oil filter and synthetic oil to use for 1G Talon Turbo?

Thanks

Meech

Most oils are pretty much the same, if you search you'll find that it is all personal preference. I use Shell Rotella t6 and a k&n filter.

I hear you on the oil, but there are certain levels of ZDDP that are required for some motors. Back in the day I used to use Castrol Syntec on my first Talon. I currently use Mobil1 on my SRT8, that's unique to my motor as per Mopar:laser: recommendations.

I like the idea of Rotella, its cheap too like y'all said. Thanks! :thumb:

I use brad penn and an oem filter, do some research and you will find this is best. if you honestly posted a thread asking which oil and filter is best and you walk away using rotella or mobil1 and a fram filter, i'm going to laugh at you for the rest of my life. a fram filter is arguably the worst thing you can put on your car LOL

I run rotella and a napa gold oil filter which is the same as wix. Rotella has good levels of ZDDP and works good for a lot of people and there setups but really any oil with high levels will work. Its all personnal preference.

I think that your oil & filter choice should be determined by what you are doing with the car. I for one, do not use synthetic oil in my DSM. The majority of the off-the-shelf brands offer less protection as an offset to reduce emissions (lower Zinc & phosphorous PPM count, as illustrated in the FP Oil Guide above). Now this might be fine with the majority of the daily driven cars out there, but how many of these DD cars are running >30psi on E85, with a built motor? It's all relative to your setup.

FWIW, I use Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil and a relocated K&N (PH8A equivalent) oil filter. I'd like to think that this combination provides an adequate balance between cost vs filtration/protection... just my two cents :)

I use Valvoline MaxSyn. I have never had issues. I love it personally. Changing the oil on time matters too, LOL...

I would never use Quaker State. Please do not ever use that oil or any of those oil filters.

I use the magnus reusable oil filter and RP HPS series oil. Its zddp count is around 1200 which is plenty.

Mine is built but also a DD, however I don't use synthetic, never have....been using GTX for almost 15 years, never let me down. But as others have mentioned, I'm sure it does depend on what your doing and religiously changing your oil :)

Thank you all for chiming in! A lot of useful information here. Thanks for that link too!

Oddly enough I agree with the member that said they wouldn't use a FRAM Filter, I would never ever use that garbage. So I decided to go on the Mobil 1 website and plug in my car to see what they recommended. Look at this nonsense with the FRAM Filters already!!

Yeah there is a Wal-Mart by me that sells Mobil1 oil and Fram filter combos, haha. I just stick with Purolator filters, always done well for me and keep oil clean.

I use Brad Penn 20w50. I like the fact that it's produced here in America. I have a 2G, but I have a 6 bolt in it. As for the oil filter, I have the Magnus rebuildable one. I absolutely love this filter. It's all metal inside with a magnet, so the filter element is magnetized as well.

Any 10w/30 synth and NAPA Gold 1381 filter...and change the oil every 5000 miles.

If you use cheaper dino oils, Vavoline or Castrol 10w/30 and still the 1381 filter. But, 3 month/3000 mile oil changes are the norm.
