Guys I'm completely out of my element. Girlfriend has a 2004 Cadillac CTS. Low beams fuses keep blowing. I've tried to trace the wiring and cannot find any place it can be shorting out. High beams and all other lights work. There is a low beam relay in the fuse panel. Can it be bad and causing the fuses to blow? Checked the bulbs, they are good.

The only option I can think of is to run new wiring from the lights to the fuse box and see if that works.

Any suggestions, other than taking it to the stealership will sure be appreciated.

Sounds like a short. Could try googling it. Maybe is a common issue with that model.make sure is the correct amp fuse for that spot. Is more complicated electrical for me cause cts got auto light sensor and stuff. Good luck and hopefully someone can help you besides the rapership.

Can you swap the relay with another one on the car somewhere just to rule out the relay?

try removing the bulbs and then turn the low beams on . if the fuse doesn't blow then the problem is one of the bulbs .

I checked the bulbs, they weren't blown. Have a separate fuse for both lights. Both fuses blow when low beams are turned on. Have tried using the cadillac forum but it's a nightmare over there. Not as user friendly.

Are they h.i.d bulbs, if they are check the ballast for each lamp. If not you should get a wiring diagram of the circuit in question and if there is anything else on that circuit. You'll need a multi meter and should use a fuse tester.
