I just received this used tcase and I want to replace the seals. The problem is the yoke/ u joint is still attached. I believe it was rtv'd because I gave it a few whacks with a hammer and pry bar and it doesn't budge. Should I just attach it as is? How much harder will that be?

Yeah I was reading how some people add rtv to the yoke when they replace the seal. That sucker's in tight. I don't wanna beat on it. I was thinking a two jaw puller might work, or I was gonna stop by the NAPA machine shop down the street to see if they had something to yank on it without damaging it.

Thank you, Pauley for giving me even more stress in my life (just kidding, your advice is always sought after). I dropped the tcase off at the machine shop so I won't have it back for a couple of days. I'm hoping the yoke was on so tight because someone may have jb welded it in the past. I know the yoke on my car is good; no leaks and the recall was done, so there's no need for rtv, correct? Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the splines are OK. The bearings seem good, and as I rotate the stuck yoke, it moves perfectly straight and smooth. Am I right in assuming if the splines were twisted the yoke wouldn't be lined up properly when rotated? Does this question even make sense?
