So I'm looking for a 2g talon tsi awd, and one 95 I looked at (manufactured in 1994) doesn't say "tsi awd" on the rear bumper. I only looked at it for a few minutes and was concentrating on the engine bay, not even thinking to look under the rear end. I noticed when he was leaving. Another 95 on craigslist clearly shows "tsi awd" on the bumper. Do early 95s not have the "awd" tag or am I getting bluffed?

Hard to say, someone could of taken the sticker off. The only way to know for sure is to look under it and see.

agreed, even if the stickers say tsi awd no guarantee that it is actually awd or turbo for that matter. I have seen several with aftermarket stickers on them indicating a trim that was not the original for the vehicle. Get on your hands and knees and peek up the skirt, its the only way to know for sure!

Well if you were looking in the engine bay and you saw a 4g63 and a turbo you at least know its a tsi, next time you see the car look under it and check if it has a transfer case and a driveshaft. If it does it's AWD, if it doesn't then its not. But on my 97 TSI AWD I have the "Talon TSI AWD" shaved off of my bumper, so he might have done the same thing

Well this guy seems pretty thorough and knows his dsms so I didn't have reason to doubt him. The bumper is definitely original, and since the "tsi" is molded ( not a sticker like eclipses) no luck there. I did glimpse the manufacture date 1994 when I looked inside. If he accepts my offer I'll make sure he sends me the VIN ahead of time.

You have the super rare extra large rear vented discs. Bonus. Also, its really really easy to tell if its awd. Just look under the rear. You'll either see a diff(pumpkin if you will) or you wont.

The tsi and awd badges are not actually molded to the bumper, although they appear that way. They are actually emblems that stick on to the bumper. It would be weird to shave the awd and leave the tsi on the bumper though.

Mine doesn't have the "tsi awd" on the bumper. All it has is tsi because it was fwd. If it has a diff and is awd and you want to know if it was swapped just look under the rear seat for the welds from cutting the access holes for the subframe bolts. Should be close to the side seat belt bolts on the floor. Also look on the drivers side for the second sending unit access panel. Some guys don't put those on when swapping.

is it possible to make a fwd 91 plymouth laser rs turbo into an awd version? i remeber reading you couldnt convert to awd if its a 1g any input appreciated thanks

You should either start your own thread, or search this. I can answer it for you though. No it isn't a bolt on like a 2g. It would involve a good deal of custom fabrication to do on a 1g because the unibody structure is different in the back from fwd to awd. Basically it would be way easier to find an awd car.

The 97-98 "tsi" and "tsi awd" are stick on emblems. The 95-96 emblems are molded into the bumper. If it doesn't say awd it was not all wheel from the factory, but does not rule out the possibility of it being swapped in.[DOUBLEPOST=1411502673][/DOUBLEPOST]

maybe it was only a 95 thing then? I've only owned a 95 and a 97, but I swore my 95 was molded.[DOUBLEPOST=1411518863][/DOUBLEPOST]I dont have it anymore to verify that though. I'm just going off memory.

My early 95 rear bumper just says eagle, but it is a tsi awd. Im also 99 percent sure I have an original bumper. i wonder if some of them didnt have tsi awd badges.

The 95-96 emblems are molded into the bumper.

They are all stick on emblems

If it doesn't say awd it was not all wheel from the factory, but does not rule out the possibility of it being swapped in.

Or the more likely possibility that the bumper was swapped or the letters were just removed

I have a '95 TSi AWD and the "AWD" emblem fell off one winter when I bumped into a guard rail.

Does anyone know where I could find that same emblem? Is there an oem part number for it that I could order?
