thanks Black91AWDturbo for clearing that up. I always thought that since they were 1g rods they may be beefier than the 2g but have the same measurements. Who says you don't learn something new!=)LOL

Not a problem, for the record the dsm grave yard does this machine work and they do it pretty cheap. I have a friend rocking a set right now the car just went 11xx on them and Evo 9 pistons. He has like $450 in the entire setup just some thing to think about.:thumb:

trust me i'm doing the evo x pistons on 6 bolt rods set-up right now, I can't wait to see this build get finished. I got 130.00 bucks in the rod and piston set-up so ill post all my pics when i finish. =)

6 bolt rods fit 6 bolt crank and 7 bolt rods fit 7 bolt crank that's all there is to it. 92.5-94 7 bolt and 95-99 7 bolt is still a 7 bolt rod and crank. Only alternative is to being cheap is an EVO rod. Yes you can hack up a set of 6 bolt rods to fit a 7 bolt crank but why take the chance? If your willing to spend the money just get Eagle, Manley or K1 H-beams that will be fine for what your looking for.

:thumb:Ok DSMUSMC, I was asking since the 92.5-94 were 7 bolt just like the 95-99 7 bolt, if the 92.5-94 7 bolt rods were beefier like the 90-92.5 6 bolt rods.IF THEY were it may be an idea that's all. And since black91wdturbo kindly informed me that there not well that idea is out the window. Why does the graveyard HACK up 6bolt rods ? to see if there are other ideas that can be had INSTEAD of doing what everybody else does with buying eagles, manleys, some people don't need 800hp cars or have the money to spend on forged parts, It's to try something differnt. If we all did the same thing that would suck!=)

Id never run Eagles or the H-beam Manleys on a 800hp car let alone machined stock rods. Plus I highly doubt the OP was looking for 800hp.

I KNOW he's not, I'm just saying that since you said that he should just buy forged rods and why someone would want to hack up a set of rods. I WAS ASKING A QUESTION SINCE I THOUGHT THAT MIGHT BE AN IDEA but BLACK91AWDTURBO told me that wasn't possible so maybe WE can think of ANOTHER idea for him =) would you say?

NEVERMIND i see that he said that he has money so he should just buy forged bottom end. MY bad DSMUSMC

All you have to do is narrow the big end and run 7 bolt bearings in them. The bearing diameter is the same, but the 6 bolt big end is thicker than the 7 bolt rod. If you just run 6 bolt forged press fit pistons than you could get by pretty cheap and have a pretty stout setup.

I was wrong from what I am seing now, it is the big end width that differs.

I have a set of stock 7 bolt rods, and I will be picking up a 6 bolt rod this eve.

I will be taking some measurements and post what I find out.

.................... I know that oem 6 bolt rods wont fit a 7 bolt crank. But can manley 6 bolt rods fit a 2G,7bolt crank ? honestly i dont know how to read these pecs i tried
Google but wasn't able to i.d the parts of the rods these specs are for.[DOUBLEPOST=1411507316][/DOUBLEPOST]reason why i ask is i have a STD bore forged 6 bolt rods/pistons combo and i have a clean std bore 7 bolt block, i also have 6 bolt blocks, but all require boring. its another 500 dollars for .40 6 bolt pistons, so if theres a way to use the 6 bolt parts with minimal machining to fit them to a 7 bolt then well, you know.[DOUBLEPOST=1411509461][/DOUBLEPOST]http://www.jackstransmissions.com/pages/crank-walkcrank-walk
Apperantly Jack's had been doing this for a while.
