I dont expect to get it until february honestly. They said 2-3 months?
Cause the turbine is effin huge and it will lag for me like none other.
I bought the hx52 for rebuild experience. I never really planned on running it.....
I mean look at this
3794 specs
Compressor- 67/94
Turbine- 72.5/66.5
Hx52 specs
Compressor 71/98
Turnine 70/84
As you can seeeeee the hx52 is really a huge mofo i dont wanna mess with. Plus it's twin scroll and I'm not.
So not only is the 52 laggier it's also larger and makes less power than the 3794 as well as might cause engine bay space issues.
The 37 fits in a 35r config.
From a fitment perspective, the 3794 is a logical choice compared to the list of things you would need to fit the HX52 on your current setup.
Couple things though.. it really is not very laggy given the size of the turbine wheel. The 16cm^2 housing is very well matched. This was done for OE Emissions requirements on the trucks they are found in. You need to get airflow up early to keep things clean.
My own car reflects this, I have very tall gearing and almost non-existent back-pressure however.
We don't actually know if the HX52 (67/99 or 71/99 wheel) will make less or more than the 3794's 67/94 wheel or it's direct competitor.. the 6766.
This is because we've not had anyone share results of boost in the 40s let alone mid 50s like, Devin's Test:
PTE 6766 vs. FP 3794 - 5 different boost levels - Boostin Performance - evolutionm.net
The best either did at 37-38psi was 796, where two HX52s on Stock 1G Intake Manifolds and "small" cams have passed 800whp at that level and a couple thousand rpm earlier. One of which made 816whp. A third HX52 car with a non-stock IM made 775whp at 30-31psi.
I'm making ~23whp/psi boost and not even in this turbo's sweet spot yet nor is my tune anything but conservative at this stage. Also on OE Replacement pistons.. etc. Excuses, excuses Right?
Just saying, don't count the big guy out just yet. To use your own words "you might be surprised."
FWIW, it would actually be a "6770" or "7170" to use PTEs nomenclature.
