2G Transmission Checklist?

Is there any way of checking if a transmission is good? Lol I can't think of anyways of knowing for sure, I'm thinking on buying this 2g gsx manual transmission for $350 guy says it has 80k miles on it and it shifted smooth before buying it off someone who had taken it off, only way I know is checking for cracks/chips on it.
 
Shift it into each gear by hand and twist the input shaft. Check for binding, grinding/noise, smooth action of the shifter, and that the output shaft is turning while you turn the input LOL. Pull in and out on each shaft to make sure the detent balls and shims are in and tight. Add some fluid in the fill and drain it back out to see if it picks up a bunch of grit/dirt or comes out as clean as it goes in. Many trannys that have been pulled are not stored well or with gear oil in them. You can visually look into the diff where the axles go and see if there is rust or dirt. Make sure all of the splines are straight and haven't been twisted at all.

If you buy it and install it, fill with some ATF fluid for a brief start up and short, short drive around the neighborhood. It has more cleaners/detergents that will help to clean out any old crap. Do not go fast and do not go for long distance like this the ATF is too thin to be protective its only to clean out the case. Drain and replace with good Redline MT90 or whatever cocktail you choose to believe in and enjoy!
