Just got my gsx back this afternoon and i must say it looks pretty dang good. Already have gotten many compliments and lots of rubberneckers. The color is omaha orange. I have always loved this color. Its amazing how a new paint job can make you realize that your tires and rims look like they need to be refreshed as well. Anyways, let me know what you guys think.

I had a bike that was this color, loved it! You do stick out! I'd remove the eclipse so people are like it's just an orange car :)
Looks awesome!!

Who painted it?

Maaco painted it but i prepped everything. They did a half assed job. Its my dd so im pleased with the results. It does stick out like a sore thumb but thats how i roll!

I like it, looks like it turned out really nice... How much it cost ya? I had Maaco quote me 5,000 for prep and paint on my 2g. Going from the stock maroon-ish color to black.
I didnt do it, went with a local guy and he did a great job for less than half.

I have almost pure black in the back for tint, it's hard to back up, specially at night! But it's freaking awesome during the day at blocking heat and light!

How much did you donate to Macco? Think after this winter when I pull my plastidip off I'm getting a new paint job " I will do my own prep work as well"

I"d paint it myself, but I"m not artistically talented like that, combined with OCD, I'd have to do it perfect, which doesn't clash well![DOUBLEPOST=1411581361][/DOUBLEPOST]OH and what didn't you like about what they did? Overspray or something?

I paid 1100 total. They left a paint drip the size of a dime below left headlight. When they pulled tape off on a couple spots it left a thin line of black. And the sharp front points of the gsx wing are still black. I made a report with the bbb and have filed with court for small claims to get ALL my money back. And i will win. So pretty much getting a free paint job and use my 1100 for a turbo upgrade. Win win situation boys![DOUBLEPOST=1411608571][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh yea there was overspray too and 3 little airbubbles on fender. Im not gonna black out the lights. Just tint windows and throw on a new set of stock gsx rims.[DOUBLEPOST=1411608722][/DOUBLEPOST]Interesting fact: dukes of hazzard orange is really 1975 chevy corvette red. Wierd right?

Dude i love the bright colors on the dsms! I bought my chassis with a macco paint job and its not perfect but bottom line.. its different ^_^

Yea for 1100 and you doing all the prep work, should be a decent job, might not last very long without your care, but still should be almost perfect, as that's their job!
Sounds like they didn't sand anything after laying down primer, just kept painting.

Looks sick!! Yeah I had my last car painted at macco they left a big paint drip on the quarter.

Yea they did a shitty job. But still looks better than black with clear flaking all over. When i pay someone to do something i expect them to do it right. I went there this morning because maaco has a thing saying if you dont bring your car in about problems within 5 days, you cant claim problems.

I showed the owner the 2 big paint drops on bumper and spots all over car body edges. She said a couple drops is perfectly normal for any painter. That was funny. Then said if i didnt want original color showing id have to pay them to remove the entire body of the car.

They asked if i would leave the gsx there again so they could fix it. I said absolutely not and the paper work for my court case against them would be there next week. All i got out of them was bad excuses for their poor worksmanship.

I thought if i did my own prep work it would come out great. Might as well have given my kids some rattle cans!

you should get some black wrap for halloween and make a jackolantern out of the hood. Really would be funny and cool at the same time.

Btw wrapping a daily driver and full color is easy. Plastic dip is another option too. I know i am gonna plastic dip mine when i get back flat black.

Not goin with a halloween motif haha. The only reason people notice my car is because its awesome and i have not seen another 2g turbo in my valley yet. I have a rep to uphold here. I dont want me representing the dsm community to be seen as a joke ya dig?

man that sucks i paint my cars the hardest part is the prep but its not professional but i love doing it and save lots of money.

I doubt you will get anything.. problem is you should have pulled some of your body parts to paint seperately. Kind of hard to paint every inch of a car when every body panel is intact. I had my car painted by maaco and they pre warned me that if i leave the body parts on they may not get everything perfect. I got the car there pulled my bumpers, side skirts, sunroof, and some of the moldings. Turned out pretty damn good and i paid just as much as you. Like i said, good luck getting anything.

Coming from another painter "A couple drips" in every job is not normal for a painter LOL.
I paint 50+ cars a week and I run something (or drip as you called it) maybe once a month. If you do the math that is 1 out of every 200+ cars.
If I ran paint jobs on a regular basis I would get my ass chewed out and/or probably wouldn't have a job at all.
They should have attempted to wet-sand & buff it out to make it less noticeable at the very least. $1100 is pretty cheap for an overall paint job but regardless it's still $1100 of your own money and I'm sure you expected that you were paying professionals to do the job at least decent. They must be a bunch of hackers over there.

Hey oneslowdsm, i did have them pull the spoiler and guess what? The points on the base of the wing are still black. The owner said well if you wanted it perfect we would have to pull all the body parts off and then it would be better. I responded, you mean like my spoiler that i had you take off and the tips are still black? The owner was silent as hell after that. Im gonna post some pics right now so you guys see its not from just removing parts. Its simply lazy unprofessional workers who dont know how to tape. Then you guys give me your info please. Thanks.[DOUBLEPOST=1411879532][/DOUBLEPOST]

[DOUBLEPOST=1411879648][/DOUBLEPOST]The last one is air bubbles that popped theres 5 of them. Ive got about 30 different spots where taper did horrible job. If the judge doesnt think this is crap they must be blind. Well what u guys think?[DOUBLEPOST=1411879751][/DOUBLEPOST]

I agree thats pretty bad. I think you would have an easier time trying to get them to redo the parts they messed up rather a full refund. I wouldnt be able to live with my car like that. It sucks getting a lazy painter he could have done a much better job.

Yea i just dont want them having my car for another week only to be dissappointed again. My dad told me a long time ago. Do it right the first time so you dont have to go back and fix it again. Those words stuck with me my whole life. Rest in peace sarge![DOUBLEPOST=1411947264][/DOUBLEPOST]Im not happy i did all that prep work for them to screw it up. Like a slap in the face to me man.
