Okay I have a 1998 GST. Has a Evo3 big 16g turbo punishment racing fmic turbosmart ultragate 38mm wastegate greddy bov 3" catlist downpipe full 3" hks exhaust ingen intake dsmlink innovative wideband fully tuned competition stage 2 clutch and competition stage 2 flywheel 2 row radiator and fan. And much more to list.

First off I just want to let all of you guys know. That I am very mechanically inclined and have a lot of knowledge doing automotive work. I specialize in Honda's and can build them from the ground up. And have built several 10 sec track cars. Just to give you a little background on me so you know your not talking to a complete idiot who knows nothing. Lol. This is my first 2G.

Okay so here is my issue. When I am driving at a normal speed shifting at a normal RPM without building much boost at all. For example like your driving on a normal road going 50mph. The car runs and shifts fine. But when I step into and I go let's say over 4000 RPM and it starts to build boost. Somewhere under the hood makes a loud knocking or like something is loose noise. And the motor shuts off and the car loses all power completely. So I pull over an turn the key off and back on and the car starts and runs just like I explained. I've checked all boost leaks but since I hear that loud noise I've realized it's not that. And I thought it might be my timing belt but if the car started back up and runs fine then it's not that either. I was thinking maybe one of the pulley or a pump. Maybe a sensor or something in the head or block. Can someone lend some knowledge and give me any ideas please? Thanks!
 
Sorry I can't really help. Like to say welcome to dsm and soon the pros will chime in and help you out. You said you got dsm link. You could post a log of when this power lost happens. It may help.
1 around what psi those it happen at.
2. Is at building or when you let off after building boost.
To loose power complete like that is crazy good thing you didn't get in accident.
Sound like a short along with other things. I myself curious too if what it may be. Hopefully not ecu issue
 
Thanks. And it happens every time I try and give it a lot of throttle and take it up past 3500 or 4000 RPM when it's just starts to try and build up boost. And all of a sudden it makes this loud noise like something metal is broken. And I hear the noise for a second or two and then I loose all power I mean I could be going 70 or 80 MPH and I will loose all power and the motor shuts off. And dude it's scary as he'll. I was on the freeway when it just happened. And I was in the middle lane. And since I lost all power I had no power steering and the car wouldn't move. So luckily nobody ran into me and it was daytime . Man if it were nighttime I would of been in big trouble. But yeah something is loose or broken. Not sure if it's a pulley or the turbo itself. I'm very good at troubleshooting issues with motors. But this is my first turbo car I've owned or really had to work on it diagnose. Like I said I specialize in Honda's. And this is the first time I've stepped out of my comfort zone. But my best friend has a 99 GSX that is fully built from the ground up. And he let me drive it and it was a blast to drive. So I sold my 91"Honda CRX Si with a B18C5 JDM TYPE=R Swap to buy this 98 Eclipse GST. And I have done all the mods to it myself. And I just got the car a month ago. And already did everything I have listed above plus a lot I left out! I've done everything you can to the motor except build the bottom end or the drivetrain. I've got every bolt on there is. Just so you have an idea of what all is done.
