Hello I am try to find a tread on how to adjust steering free play on a 1st Gen TSI can any one lead me to a tread if there is one. I just replace all components in my front and rear suspension including polyurethane suspension and sub frame bushings. I have a some free play in the steering and would like to know how to adjust the rack and pinion free play.

Thanks. CS

Where in the front of the car is it located. I have replace tie rods and the steering rack outer arms that is covered with the rubber booth all components is new. Can you tell me the exact location of the adjustment is located.

there is no adjustment that an individual can make on a rack and pinion to get the slop out.
it is very possible you may have gottan a "bad" rack and pinion from the parts store.
i have replaced several racks in the past and have gotten a few brand new racks that had awful clicking noises and had one with excessive slop.
