Wow i didnt think this day would ever get here! Ive been having problem after problem with my 2g gst but ive got doing pretty good now.
I started with a 96 gst auto car stock minus a 99 engine swap and a 14b. So i was just driving it normal not wanting problems untill i can trust the car (pshhh what a long road thats been). I made it 2 days and the turbo shit the bed! So what did i do. I bought a used evo 3 16g that needed a rebuild! I rebuilt it myself and used new wheels got it on the car and was on the road again. Wow another 2 days goes by and i find myself calling another tow truck . This time its the water pump went out and lucky i knew it right away because i dropped the belt for it and had no power steering. So i decided while i was replacing the pump good time to do my timing parts i put a greddy t-belt and a gates blue balance belt along with oem tentioner. While i was at the shop i also through on a 3" stainless catback i had. Got her back on the road again and was creeping on the forsale ads everywhere wanting to make some power. I found a set of evo 560s for 70$ shipped! Also a greddy fmic on cliat for 80$ (what a steal). Got these parts installed and with my lack of 2g know how i find my car running like shit. I thaught (coming from a 1g) that a 2g maf and 550s should run good. Wel i was wrong so parked the car till i could get some way to tune the car. Picked up an aem wideband kit from a friend for 75$ get that put it and kept my eyes peeled for a tunning option. Bingo found an safc on the classifieds for 50$ shipped soi get the safc installed v(being lazy and use quick splice connectors bad idea that was). I ended up with a car that wouldnt rev over 1500rpm so i uninstalled the safc and car ran best it could for no tune. I got my soldering stuff out and went to work! I got it installed again car fired up and i used rre's base setup for a car with similar mods. So i said well lets see how she does took her for a ride and idled nice other than a little high (think my tps is going bad as it shows 2% throttle, and is at around 1800rpm in p and n but in r or d is at 900). Car was driving pretty smooth so i started easing into it and monitoring afr and which was pretty good till i made full boost. Im only at 10psi and the rre tune was for 17psi so i was kinda rich after i made full boost but better than lean i stayed in it and got to make my 1st pull to 7k rpm! I bet i had the biggest grin on my face its been a long wait and still not going to run her hard till i get my logger ( should be here tomorrow). Then im gonna get a good solid tune and get it up around 20psi and be hopfully around 300whp (my goal).
