Hi everyone, After working on it for a year now, its still not a roadworthy car, I understand now why these cars have such a bad rep for being unreliable and just a plain pain. Now after replacing the windshield, the door handle, misc. plastic pieces all throughout the car, new driver side axle, air filter, new steering dampeners, new front ball joints, a control arm in the rear, windshield pump and reservoir, interior door switches, new battery, windshield wipers, and I just had the transmission fully rebuilt,

not even after 5 mins of driving away from the transmission shop a very annoying high pitched squeal started to occur, the sound gets louder with more throttle input and is faint on decel. I have never heard a sound like it, The car did not make this sound before the transmission rebuild, which leads me to believe this is transmission related problem. at 80 mph the high pitched grinding almost metal sound was louder than my SRS catback exhaust. The car is 100% stock. Could this be a leaky intake, or turbo related? the car is too hot to check right now but, I will take off the intake tomorrow and check it out. note: the sequel seems to get louder as boost/ engine speed increases. any help or thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: could the shaft inside the turbo squeal?

If it happens at idle pop the hood and try to figure out the area it is coming from to narrow it down. A video would be nice, moving the camera around the engine bay so we can hear where it gets louder if you can hear it at idle. But I would go back to that shop and have them figure it out considering they messed with it and now its making noises....

In all fairness, it isn't exactly the cars fault that you got ripped off. Also, in my experience the bad rep associated with dsm's stems mostly from lack of maintenance and improper modification. As far as the squeal goes, I would first check for anything simple like as a loose accessory belt. If you cant find it then I would take it back to the transmission shop

I'd guess a belt. Take a video of the car with hood popped and pull the throttle cable to try and pinpoint the noise.

I would check the throttle body, it might be getting stuck or like mentioned before it could be your bov sticking. If that doesn't work i would do a vacuum leak test.

I just wanted to update/close this thread, All in all the brand new transfer case they tranny shop installed had cracked within the first 5 mins of driving. They replaced it and the noise went away. So future reference if you car is making a high pitched metal on metal screech, your t-case probably has no oil in it.
