So I searched for my problem but couldn't find it so I'll explain it here.

I'm driving a '97 Eclipse GS-T with 167,000KM on it. I have a cold air intake and aftermarket exhaust and have had them since 140,000. Just recently my turbo will be boosting to about 80% on the gauge and then you can literally hear the turbo quit (engine still runs fine I just lose the turbo pull) for a second and then it'll stutter and come back in full force. It's especially noticeable in 2nd gear. Anyway this isn't consistent, I took my car out for about an hour today and it only did this turbo stutter about 60% of my starts.

I'm taking the car in Wednesday morning to my local import/jdm shop but I'd love to have an idea whats wrong.

I do all my oil changes on time, belt changes, and all other maintenance. Only ever had my check engine light come on for an O2 sensor.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm really inexperienced with cars (I just know the basics) but will the boost leak affect my engine seriously? Should I stop driving the car until I fix it or is it okay to keep driving. Also how much am I looking at to fix a boost leak?
 
I've driven my car plenty of times with a boost leak because my couplers like to blow off under boost. Up to 2 hours one day because I knew they would just blow off again. Under boost the car would run terrible rich so just keep at cruising rpms and it will be fine. Even with the boost leak my a/f stayed at a steady 14.8 when idle/cruising. As for cost goes shouldn't be much. It's normally just lose couplers or broken vacuum lines more of a nuisance then anything.
 
A nice little trick to keep the couplers from blowing off is to spray the inside with hairspray and on the pipe connection then put your coupler on and tighten up your clamp.

To the op I'm guessing your bov is stock. That might be the cause of your leak and/or piping leak.
 
Bryan had the best answer. Do a boost leak test to find the leaks before you just start replacing stuff. I was just guessing that your bov might be the culprit.

+1 on the 1g adapter plate if it needs replaced.
