Changed the front engine roll stop, installed shifter bushings and tidied up the bay....then found my turbo was on its last leg, ended up doing 4 hours of porting work turbo swapping and ordering $600 of parts. I totally understand......DSM

Blasted outlander caliper brackets. I *think* they were zinc plated (something silver), so I probably could have just coated right over them.

Cleaned outgassed calipers with acid etch cleaner.

Outgassed calipers and brackets. Calipers still have crap coming out of them, so they will get blasted/cleaned/outgassed a couple more times. Brackets didn't outgas at all, but they were new. :)

Finally got some paint in the engine bay whoo hoo tomorrow more and still working on the engine, then clear the bay.

:idontknow: after hearing all the noise inside I took ecm out and shes burnt/ leaked, so off to ecm tuning for repairs:beatentodeath:, as for the tsi well ill get back to you when the new injectors and billet tb come in next week LOL oh and this weekend new turbo and manifold and o2 housing!!! coming together nicely

Did the 90* hood mod.

Cut the excess off of the hood pins so I can put the high beam covers back on.

Reattached the passenger side fender cap.

Started sanding the roof to get the car ready for paint.

Cleaned calipers two more times. Dried them in oven.

Powder coated them.

Noticed I missed a spot on both when removing masking/plugs. :banghead:

Guess I'm going to rehit them with another coat.

Painted engine bay and cleared painted front bumper and cleared prepped body for final coats of paint and clear, parts list for whats next, holset on it whoo hoo, and new clutch.

Finally got around to putting some gas in the tank after coasting in from the Shootout. It's not my daily, nor driven extensively, so it wasn't an issue.

Took it out on a photo shoot for the calendar submission.

It wasn't just today. But the past week I drove my highly modded 1g almost 5,000 miles across the country and back. This is with several stops filling up on e85 and running the car the way it was built to be ran. My average mpg on gas was 29, with one tank getting 32.

This goes to show that these cars are not always the pos they get a bad rep for. A well maintained, and built dsm is just another car, and can be used as such.

Ordered black leather shift & ebrake boots.

Car came with a really cheap looking vinyl shifter boot.

Probably have to mod the stock plastic ebrake cover.
