Just bought a 96 talon with a 6 bolt swap for $650 it was too good to pass. It runs rough and #1 and #2 spark plugs were cooked my guess it ran to lean will post pics following. It also smokes like crazy (oil smoke) i guess maybe some valves got cooked but wont know for sure or the extend of the damage untill the head comes out later this week. I want to know if any of you can't think of other possible problems??

Pcv, rings, valve seals. Those plugs looked horrible.
Yea that's what I'm thinking also. Hopefully the bottom is good but for $650 it was too good of a deal. Car is clean the guy didnt know what he had almost feel bad for stealing the car!!!

Looks like somebody tried to do the side gap trick with the plugs and set the gap WAY TOO wide.

Thus, the plugs were firing terribly cold causing them to oil up like that.

Bet if you just gap them down to .010 with the blade inbetween the tang and the side of the electrode and then reinstall then, I bet that motor would take off like a rocket.

Found the culprit. Lucky me the cilinder is good. Question is can i get away with just putting one new valve or do the entire set??theres a hole in one of the exhaust valves[DOUBLEPOST=1410994025][/DOUBLEPOST]Here is a pic of the valve

while the head is off, you definitely want to have all the valves done. not just one.
