It seems like no matter where I go or what time of day, someone always tries to race me. I have cars at lights that go wot next to me expecting a race. Almost every day on way to work I will go to pass someone doing speed limit and when I get next to them they slam on it. Im a new dsm owner but ive got to say its a bit annoying.

Had a honda pull up next to me on freeway. Heard his bov pssssh. Of course he wanted to race. I didnt buy my dsm to race I just love the car. Well I had to see what she has and good lord that honda was a quarter mile behind me in what seemed like 2 seconds. Thats the only time ive let someone have it.

Anyone else get the daily problems like that?I had them leave the gsx sticker off the back at paint shop this week. Hoping maybe that will ease it a bit but I doubt it.

All the time, I laugh at them because I see them rubber necking.

Where do you guys live? Indiana sucks.

It's kinda annoying but you get used to it, what I hate the most is if I'm trying to change lane and some one is next to me and I try to over take them, for some reason everyone speeds up thinking in trying to race or something It gets really annoying, but I just slow down once I get to around 20 over the speed limit and just merge behind them

whenever id drive my buddys 98 gs (he totally riced it out), ppl would just hammer it...in ANYTHING. im talking geo's and festiva's. and that car was a total dog, but what could i ask of a N/A with 19 inch wheels and a 3 inch exhaust and chebay intake.

its the nature of the beast. whenever id drive my camaros or my truck (all very loud), ppl would always get a lil goosy. and when you have a car that reads "16v DOHC TURBO", everyone has to get a stab in. and its usually the immature and small-penis-syndrome ppl.

albeit, i do love putting said ppl in their place if im driving the right car. my mazda is a fun mid range ass whooper for an n/a, and my buddies lightning...ooof that things a blast.[DOUBLEPOST=1410936915][/DOUBLEPOST]

these are the ppl i dont put up with. if they want to be a dick and try to run the road, i give them the beans, and im talking the whole can...

You will get used to it try living in the UK. I get at least 3 people a day do it and thats on a 8 mile drive to work.

Cruciatus111 described exactly what I was wanting to say. I do the same thing, just back off after speeding a little. Yea you name the car or model or year and id say they have all gone balls out when they see my car. The worst is the people that just ride your ass forever wanting you to step on it. Ive slowed down to forty several times and made them pay for that one. I hate the ass riders. Its unsafe as can be. Especially when ive got my kids with me.

I haven't had a DSM for awhile but have been thinking about picking another up next year. I forgot about this aspect of things. It is annoying. I don't have that problem as much in my CTS-V or SRT8 Jeep. Also generally less attention from police in those as well.

Conversation like this should be held in the hangout, not the newbie forum since this has nothing to do with asking for help with our vehicles.

I get looked at more by muscle cars than gang banger vehicles with me being stock.

I got my wideband o2 installed in the stock location and it was making my mpg horrible so just for a quick cheap fix I bought a down pipe. I ran it open until I got the money to finish the rest of it and soon as I had it hooked up I went out for a drive(loud as f...)No more then 5 minutes down the road I had some honda pull up beside me at the light and rev up I coudn't hear him over my exhaust. I smoked him until my clutch started slipping so I got beat by a honda .

It's not so bad in a 1g. Most people don't even know what it is and I love that. Just always seems my luck, always on the other side of the highway I See a new sti or evo x, something actually worth messing with, and never get the chance too. I don't promote street racing at all, I say leave it at the track, or Atleast a back road with no one around. That being said..... I do like getting like a half a length behind, say a Subaru BRZ whatever they are, that way they can hear you spool up a nice 18 or 20lbs. Those are the silliest cars IMHO, and anyone you talk top days they are a "drivers" car, how can it be any fun with 168hp....[DOUBLEPOST=1410958899][/DOUBLEPOST]I still think the best thing ever about the 1g, is watching someone get tangled in auto seat belt! Haha like they r battling a anaconda!

So true about the seat belts. Just relax and let it strangle for a sec. Lol

Took a friend of mine for a ride in my talon and the seat belt totally rocked his world. He tried to stop it with a quick karate chop . So then he just pulls it over himself and puts it behind his back. So we get back and he opens the open the door, and the auto belt literally lifts him outta the seat and folds him up into the dashboard. Haha those things have some torque you can't stop it!

Don't know what you mean by sucks..but everyone and their mother tries to get me to play whenever I have the car out. Granted, I'm sure my front mount seems a bit cocky to people who don't know much about DSMs. I actually get more satisfaction from just smiling across the lane at them and shaking my head like "if you only knew.." than actually racing.

Aint seen nothin 'till you race a cop. Don't beat em', they're poor-sports. They got buddies 'conveniently nearby' that throw out spike strips...

These kids up in a nearby small town all hangout with their 'stangs, camaros, and whatever riced out honda they can get. If they are at the gas station and i stop i get at least one request: "so, you wanna run that thing tonight?" Or "how much boost you pushing" , thats the best. The correct question would be "how many lbs per minute are you flowing? and are you fwd or awd?"

I'm 33 with a spotless driving record, a teenager and a 5 month old baby... uhhh ya, im not gonna race some stock camaro.

Ok ok, i may have done it once, a long time ago just to let the kid know how fast my car really was. Guilty. Closed track of course. Stang was left far far behind

But yea, its a constant thing if i take my car out past dark. I will always get some kid revving or coming up to me as i walk out of a store etc wanting to "race" pssssshhhh twatever bro

i get that alot when I was in California. from honda, mustang, evo, wrx and nissans. i just let them go and do my thing.

Kind of a good thing living in a small town you know all the cops. When our local cops got one of the new charger cop cars. Some of us were out on a back road watching a few guys running their cars from school, then the cops show up. They were cool, got to watch them line up the charger against one of their old crown vics. Not even a race hardly. Then we were all told to leave, buzz kill

Use to bug me but now I only laugh at everybody, its almost a fun game now betting on who is going to want to race.
Of course I never do, save that stuff for the track but it is fun to try and guess what idiot is willing to loose their license, get their car impounded or cause a accident.
Don't think there is a lot of cars out there that can keep up with 500 hp, so I just keep smiling thinking if you only knew.

I live in Calgary and no one has ever wanted to race the talon in 2 years. Its always amazed me. I get more people wanting to race my 08 Lancer by a long shot. Maybe its a Canadian thing...

I get it all the time in my colt. They especially like to "try" and prevent me from entering and exiting the freeway. It is awesome to have them try it @ 55 or 60, and I leave it in 5th and punch it. I get by them with ease while rolling coal into their open window.
