how about acdelco?

also, if the ball joint recall has not been performed on my car how long does a recall stay in effect so a company is required to fix. Are they obligated to fix any recall no matter how long it has been?

Ac delco makes pretty good quality parts, but i would go to rockauto.com and get the beck/arnley parts. They are very good quality and a good price also. Stay away from dorman suspension parts, they make a bunch of cheap crap.

As long as the vehicle is on the road, a safety recall MUST be performed. So go get your ball joints fixed and leaky t-case if you have it for free

The thing with the recall is that the original control arm must still be in place. Usually with these cars the part has been replaced by now because these have such a high failure rate. If there is a non oem part installed in place than they are no longer liable for the repair. These were just poorly designed. The ball should of been on the bottom side of the arm like on a honda instead of the top side.

Front I always get the oem knuckle kits from an oem dealer that supports this site. mr325009 and mr325010. Just find the dealer that is closest to you to minimize shipping. Some will send just the two lower arms and chuck the knuckle if you ask so it saves you even more on shipping.
That leaves the top ball joint to replace and bushings. Acdelco, Raybestos, Moog, are acceptable to me. For those I would look at rock auto.
For the bushings either energy suspension or prothane.

thanks for all the responses guys. I appreciate it very much.[DOUBLEPOST=1410894711][/DOUBLEPOST]ok guys, just called mitsu dealer. This recall was not performed on my car. Service guy says he would first need to inspect the car before ordering parts. Sucks cause I live 90 minutes from closest dealer. Hell, if I can get my ball joints fixed for free I want to, but it might be easier to buy new parts myself. What say ye? :)

If it were me i would do it myself, but i don't like letting anyone touch my vehicles other than myself, other than alignments and inspections.

I hear you about getting it for free, but don't think the tech that is gonna get stuck with a recall won't rush the job to make up for not being paid enough to. I like to do things myself cause I do it right, clean up rust, maybe paint control arms and if you have the money, poly bushings are awesome. They really make the car more responsive. Especially if you do all 4 corners and the sway bar bushings too.

Oh I'm afraid not. 10 years is the limit. Call the NHTSA they will tell you. I fought this because I bought an older low mile vehicle. My 97 talon only had 52k on it in 2011 and they would not perform any recalls. NHTSA confirmed this for me.

Well my dealership was going to perform my recalls but my ball joints were aftermarket. I was always under the impression that if it was a safety recall it must be performed.

called my dealer. They will do it, but 75 mile drive. Don't wanna chance a failure. Might buy acdelco arm and joints. Most expensive arm and joint, but I trust acdelco with parts. Always have.
