I thought I would put up a build thread on my CC Lancer Coupe(that's what we call it here in Australia)
It all started when I bought it from a friend of mine as a roller with a cage/chute lexan etc.In its former life it was a turbo manual running mid 9's at over 150mph. He was over it so I snapped it up.
My first goal was to put in an auto/turbo on methanol set up and have it run 9's etc, so we started on the engine build.
I sourced a 2.4 block and started to do the prep work on it.The bottom end consists of a 2.0 Manley crank, GRP alloy rods and CP flat top pistons 9.8:1 comp.So we ended up with a 2.1 long rod(6.300) 4G64.
The cylinder head has the usual fruit o/s valves cnc port job, bee hive valve springs/titanium retainers and 290cams.
Now that the engine was assembled it was time to start on the fuel system so we went for an alloy fuel cell at the front and an areomotive mechanical fuel pump set up running off the crank.Injectors consist of 1600cc indy Blue.
Suspension is Koni Shocks with 1000lbs springs in the rear 15X26X10 M/T slicks with convo pro wheels 15X10 with a 5 inch back space. We fabbed up some traction bars out of moly and ran them to the middle of the car.
The engine was mounted to a built auto with a re stalled converter and we started to fab up engine mounts and piping. We decided on no intercooler as we are running methanol as the fuel. The turbo I chose was a Garrett GTX3076 with a HKS wastegate and turbosmart Eboost. The intake is a standard Hyundai Sonata Throttle and Plennum. On the stall it makes 15 psi very quickly and wants to start to creep. The end result was 570hp at the front wheels on 26lbs boost with the hyundai intake.
Engine management consists of a Haltech E11 which I had lying around, MDS DIS4 CDI and a KOSO dash(after market motorbike, awesome dash!!!)
So I was ready to go racing, I found out I needed to get everything re Tech Inspected and my Drag Licence was expired. I was running out of time for our biggest meet here in Australia(the Jamboree) as I knew this would run over 140 and into the 9's so we embarked on version 2 for the meantime.[DOUBLEPOST=1409566637][/DOUBLEPOST]So version 2 was something I wanted to do for a long time and build a tough N/A 4G set up.So what we did was take the turbo set up off and make an exhaust manifold and put on a hypertune intake manifold and a 100mm throttle body.I kept everything as it was. [DOUBLEPOST=1409567975][/DOUBLEPOST]I put a manual transmission back in and a twin plate clutch, strapped it back on the dyno and it mate 250hp to the front wheels.I had a feeling the ratios are too tall for the power it was making, but that was all I had at the time.I bolted up a pair of 13X24.5X8 slicks and it was off to the track. We weighed the car with me in it and it came up 2090lbs(im 260lbs)The result was a great day and I had a blast

pass 5 [email protected](backed off bracket race)
pass 6 [email protected](lost by .082 sooo close)
I was 60' in the 1.7's all day too.
As I thought my ratios are way too tall
[DOUBLEPOST=1409568080][/DOUBLEPOST]Future mods shorter ratios and more compression and start hunting down 11's and maybe a 10
