This may seem like a silly question but I'm parting out a DSM and I'm trying to get everything I can for it. That way I can purchase another. I'm going to be scrapping the body hopefully getting some kind of money for the metal and was curious if it would be worth the time to take the insulation off the wires to the copper it's about 3 bucks a pound right now and was curious about the weight inside of the car. I have some time on my hands, so I'd be more than willing. What's your opinion?

It probably isnt worth it. If you burn the wire off you'll get less per lb. you would have to cut and strip every single wire. Being such a small car and most wires being pretty thin I couldnt imagine it being worth your time. But hey, if you want to do it then go ahead. Weigh it afterwards and post up. I'm curious. I'm betting under 10lbs total

Yeah I feel like I should be on extreme Penny pinchers right now., LOL

I agree pull the whole harness and sell it on here. If anything you can offer plug pigtails. Plenty of us on here that could use replacement pigtails.

If your really going to scrap the car go ahead and cut out the strut towers if they are in good shape. How about the drip rails? Plenty of good stuff could be salvaged.

Did the car get wrecked or something? A part out or selling the chassis would get you more money. Not much difference between waiting to sell the car (or inn pieces) and messing around spending a bunch of time stripping wire.

Usually when I rewire a car I pull about 30 lbs of wiring out. But that's fuse boxes, insulation, connectors, all of it.
