I have the evo 8 brembo setup on my car. I took my wheels off today and noticed that the retaining pins are backing out that hold the pads in place. I bought brand new pins and clips when i installed these, is there some kind of trick i'm missing to keep these in place. You would think the large amount of pressure the clips put on the pins that they wouldn't back out. I swapped pads today as the ferado 2500's make too much noise under light brake applications, otherwise they are completely awesome other than that.

There isn't any trick really. They are held in by friction alone. It's really a crappy design as they can come out as you're noticing.

Many years ago I did read about someone that drilled some REALLY tiny holes in the pointed tips so they could safety wire them in place, but I haven't ever done it myself. I've been lucky that on my Evo 9 and on my Eclipse (I have evo rear brakes) I haven't had the pins move on me but it is always something I monitor.

What pads do you run on your evo9. The ferado's were awesome feel and stopping power but too noisy.

I use girodisc magic pads. Barely any dust, no squeal 99% of the time, and I like the stopping power for the street. My previous favorites were axxis metal master and axxis ultimate pads, but depending on how long you've had a dsm you may have never heard of them. They were really good street pads, and the girodiscs are better than them in all categories.

I have been looking at the girodisc pads. I really have never felt a better stopping pad than the ferado 2500 but can't stand the squeal.

I swapped in a set of wagner thermo quiet to get the noise to go away and it did, but lost some stopping power for sure.

What part of the pin are you applying the loctite at.
