Hey guys!
I have a stock 1991 Eagle Talon awd tsi
I have found 6 leaking vac lines and fixed/replace all of them. At idle my vac/boost gauge shows a steady 18lb with no needle shudder.I performed a boost leak test and found that my pcv valve was allowing boost into the valve cover/head so I replaced it and it fixed that problem and stopped my oil cap leak while driving ;)
My throttle body butter fly shaft has a slight leak and I'll fix it but my main issue is a leak that I can't find!
I have a major leak in or around the turbo, we can clearly hear air rushing out but can't find it by feel, sight or bubbles! I put my ear up to the exhaust but all is quiet there....
My question is: Is there a common problem with the stock TDO5H turbo? Prone to crack, V band leak, some thing internal???
Here is a quick video to show how bad the leak is on my boost gauge....

You sound Canadian. LOL

Get some soapy water and start spraying anywhere you think you hear a leak and watch for bubbles. Injector seals are common, I've replaced mine twice :p

*Edit* You said around the turbo, sorry. Do you have a MBC? Check the hose from the j-pipe and any other vacuum hoses too.

If your 16g has a jpipe than yes there's the most comon place for a leak!! Like said above do a blt to like 15-20psi and get a spray bottle and soapy water in it and spray away on anything you think is leaking. It will show up!

Sorry boys, 4 of us crawled all over the car and found and fixed every leak there was using soapy water. The only leak I havent fixed was the throttle body leak (very small) The J pipe was leaking but also fixed. We were pumping it up to 20psi after the video I made. The leaking air is in or around the turbo only. 2 bottles of soapy water later and still no bubbles. I am Canadian Eh! :)[DOUBLEPOST=1409270339][/DOUBLEPOST]Still haven't found the turbo leak LOL!
Is it possible that a bad seal or bearing in the turbo is allowing air to blast past and out the exhaust or some thing?

If that was the case, oil would be in that mix as well. If your intake piping is clean, then it's fine. How long are you holding the pressure? If it's not dropping at a serious rate then I'd leave it be. Could just be air flow sound amplified by the compressor housing. It is similar in the shape of a conch and acoustics do get amplified that way.

Air will leak past the oil seal on the compressor side whether the turbo is new or old. The seal isn't designed to hold air pressure. You are likely just hearing the air leak past the seal into the crank case.

I'm fairly sure we had some valve leakage as I did not have it set at 40deg, thanks for the tip/link! I'll test it again this weekend and get back to you guys.I'm just not sure why I couldn't hear it at the tail pipe?
I took the car out to the track and had a blast tonight!!!
The breaks were great, no fade at all!
The suspension needs work for sure as it bottoms out and bangs at times.
As I got better and faster the engine temp started to go up and I had to pit 3 times. I'll pull the rad and check it over and clean it out until I can buy a better one.(Recommendations please)
1st and 2nd gear turbo lag was brutal! (Need some advice here)
I managed to lift the back left tire off the ground in one corner :) LOL
My fastest lap time was 1:44.08 and the slowest was 1:55.87
My top speed was 135km/h
Here is my video with my friend Brandon coaching me.

That looks like awesome fun! Go for a dual or triple core radiator. I have the dual core Mishimoto and I love it, it really helps keep things cool when it's hot.

Also, show Brandon this video please.
