i just installed the K&N air box replacement for my 99 gsx, and i have noticed my bov sounds alot lower, it used to be a chirp kinda sound and now its more of a "boosh" sound, like someone just turned down the frequency of the sound. what happened?

Bought a drop in filter from 4wheelonline. Didn't notice any weird sound, but you can feel the performance improvement. It would be better to use back the oem box and use a knn drop in filter compared with using a aftermarket CAI.

how do you figure? if you are close to stock this might be a good option, especially if you plan to stay that way.

an aftermarket intake will generally flow better with a larger turbo, cams, IM etc... due to the change in volumetric efficiency characteristics.

Can you post a pic or link to what you installed? Have you double checked all the clamps? Its probably because of the higer flowing filter letting the air vent easier (which is ultimately a good thing).

True, but the stock 2g intake snorkel is the most restrictive part (due to the bov recirc tube). The airbox flows pretty good and draws in cool air from behind the fender.
