Hi guys
I'm looking for a short shifter mount/base. Does anybody still make these? I know B&M had, but are discontinued.
I've searched everywhere I can for them. I'm not looking for the stick, I need the base.

You really want something like the B&M. It's just much nicer than the typical cut down shifters. Hopefully you can find a used one or a knock-off of some quality.

I don't know of anyone who made an aftermarket mount or base for the DSM. The short shifters that were available, most are now discontinued, were all designed to work with the stock base as far as I know. I have (what I believe to be) a Megan Racing short shifter in my 2g (available at several of our supporting vendors, including JNZ and ExtremePSI) and a JNZ modified OEM 1g shifter sitting on the work bench for my 1g. Both cars are using factory bases and metal bushings between the base and the chassis. I also use metal bushings for the cable ends that connect to the shift levers on the transmission side.

Thank you guys, I thought B&M made the full short throw assembly though. Do you guys know if any of the other models (i.e. Evo or Galants or even the other gen Eclipses) base/mount for the shifter will fit?

Not one that replaces the entire base that bolts to the car - and it was only made for the 2g. Found this video that explains the differences between the B&M and Megan Racing:

Notice both use the stock base assembly.

wow thank you. I just dont have the base right now, converting our auto to manual.
But thats something good to know, especially since my wife will also be driving this car and I dont want the shifter to fall apart on her.
Thats pretty insane...

Are there any short throws you guys prefer? Or should I just basically stay away from Ebay?

The knockoff in the video definitely looks like the Megan Racing one, but this is the first time I have heard that it's not just as good as the B&M. Is the Megan really that bad? In my research I've seen nothing but good reviews for it.

I have been looking for B&M shifter for quite some time now. When I do find a person who sells one its usually already sold. I really don't want to settle for the Megan racing one but I may have to.

Just a comment, my shifter was a sloppy mess and as soon as I did all the bushing replacements (which are a little pricey) that thing was nice and tight and shifts so smooth. Just letting you know. Sorry I can't help about the short throw. I have an Ebay short throw in my shop but it would take alot of modification to make it work and it doesn't have the base, just the shifter and the second piece that it pivots on which is too wide to fit my 1g, it would have to be cut down a bit to fit in.

3 people here already said they ARE discontinued. Sorry bud.

Nobody actually stated they were discontinued but thanks for the clarification.

Thank you guys for the replies.

That shifter looks really loose in there. There could be a fix for it though...

Which shifter is it TSIAWD? Is it the Megan shifter that you changed the bushings for?

Sorry, thought that my saying "and it was only made for the 2g" made that clear, and it also says something about it not being made anymore at the end of the video. You can find them used every once in a while. If you find one and are in the market, I'd go for one of those before I'd get any others, hands down. B&M is one of those companies that does things right, does the R&D, etc. Pretty much all of the other shifters are knock off B&Ms, and their tolerances aren't going to be as precise, which is what you see in that video. Is that a big deal? Ask any transmission rebuilder.

No unfortunately it is just the stock shifter but I am VERY surprised at what the bushings did for it. It is nice and tight and smooth shifting now. I have this stupid FleeBay short throw, but like I said it will require cutting it down in the block area of the shifter to work for me and its only the shifter, not the base. I am quite happy with the stock shifter now tho just the bushings are a little pricey but in my opinion well worth it!

Sorry, thought that my saying "and it was only made for the 2g"
Lol sorry Ludachris I misinterpreted, I thought you meant that B&M made them for the eclipse...not "was" as in not anymore but "was" as in "is made for the 2G" but "was" because the 2Gs are discontinued...don't know if that made any sense.

But back on topic...you said you have a Megan Racing shifter, Ludachris. How do you like it?
Anyone else out there reading this have any input on the Megan Racing Shifters?

Which bushings did you use TSIAWD? Are they solid or polyurethane?

It's not bad, but I don't know that I'd do it again. I have this fear in the back of my mind now that it's going to cause premature wear on the tranny rebuild I just did recently through Jacks Transmission. I might just go back to stock unless I find a B&M just for the piece of mind. The video above is making me want to do another close inspection to make sure there isn't any play.

They are poly bushing but oh what a difference they made. It feels just like new again and it was a sloppy mess before, don't even know how I was possibly making the car shift but it is soo solid now. My old ones were mere powder, and I would assume yours are to, these cars are old. I think they are around 8 bucks a piece but it was worth it for me. I think your thread said something about your wife driving the car and she would love the way it feels after you put them in. I really couldn't believe it myself. I wanted a short throw also, but now I am a very happy camper. On a side note, I know I need new bushings at the transmission also but the shifter still feels great, new bushings on the way while I am down for a motor/tranny overhaul tho for sure.
