Hi guys. Just finished my rebuild and starting to dial in my tune. I have a few questions and would like some feedback. I have my mods listed in my profile but I'll put them up here too to save some time.
1991 tsi awd.
Frankenstein build. I had a local reputable machine shop build the short block for me . 2g pistons on 1g rods, bored .020 over and milled deck. Acl rods and main bearings, ARP rod bolts, main studs and head studs. Oem mitsu rings, mitsu MLS head gasket. Rebuilt recut head with stock turbo cams, springs etc.

I kept the balance shafts, AEM cam gears, gates Kevlar TB kit. Poly engine mounts, Original flywheel 're surfaced and balanced by centerforce ( their factory is in my hometown ). Centerforce DFX puck clutch.
Fuel system- AEM 320lph fuel pump, fuel lab AFPR, denso 750cc injectors, stock fuel rail.

MANAGEMENT stuff- APEXI afc neo, Apexi Acvr, innovate wideband gauge.

turbo and exhaust- I know everyone will cringe but I am running a cx racing 20G :shhh:, evo3 exhaust manifold, stock internal waste gate, 3" turbo back Magnaflow exhaust. Punishment racing fmic and stock intake manifold.

So now I have about 1k on the engine I'm fine tuning my fuel maps on the afc neo. I know everyone says that 750's are too big for the neo but I have had good results so far. My AFR tends to stay at 14.7 to 13.0 when cruising and under full boost I'll get average 11.0 to 12.5 I currently have my avcr programmed at 1.45kg/cm2 so it's about 19lbs. Currently the turbo will spool at about 4500rpm and not hit full boost till 5000rpm. I'm wondering is this is normal for a 20g? If I add another 3 or 5 degrees timing by adjusting my cam gears will that help achieve full boost sooner? Any other information would be great too!

Done a boost leak test since swapping all this in? Kinda lean for full boost 19psi bro, I'd be carful real carful! If its closer to 11.1-10.9 that's alright but 12.5 Idk. Won't say anything about the turbo choice, its your motor ;) Id back the boost off alittle 16-17psi to be safe, till you get something better to tune with. Can you feel it pulling timing when its full boost and 12.5 afr's? Any cells (check engine light flashing) during a good long 3rd or 4th gear pull?

I don't have a boost leak tester so I might have to make one. On my fuel map on the neo it's -35% from 4500rpms so I have some room to add fuel. When I first started dialing it in i could watch my AFRS under full boost drop to down around 9.0 so I have some room to add some fuel. So I should shoot for around 11.0 under full boost? Our altitude here is around 5k feet I'm sure that Dosent help. And no I haven't had CELs. And I'll definitely back off the boost for now.

Yes make a boost leak tester for sure. If you havnt checked you probably have a leak or 2 that can easily effect spool. That's good you have some room to grow, much better to be safe than playing on the line of fire. It seems like you have a good handle in it bro. I would really look into tuning software more than the neo. If you really want the car to shine and be a rocket, ecmlink will open a whole new world for you to make power! I would shoot for 10.9-11.1 for wot def! I would try to be alittle on the rich side more than the lean side, with what you have to tune with. Without knowing your idc% and if your knocking, it could get ugly quick if its to lean at wot.

Awesome thanks for your reply! I'll take it for a spin today and get those AFRs under control. Yeah I picked up that neo on clist for 150.00 New in the box! Couldn't resist. I l like it so far it's nice to tune on the fly but I definitely need to go link :hellyeah:

Ya nothing wrong with it at all its just limiting you and your car. But your getting some tuning experience so that's a huge plus bro and atleast you have that over nothing LOL. Its so nice with link to have full control! Of course there are many other good tuning software out there for our cars, cheaper and more expensive. I just love link because its purpose is for my dsm and the support is really unmatched!

Stock fuel maps at WOT run around 9.4-9.6:1 - very rich.
You should idle and cruise around 14.7:1.
You should aim to have your WOT pull to be around 11:1-10.9.

I had 2000 for my build and I wanted to focus on the major stuff and what my goals for the car were. It's turned out good so far definitely amazing to hear it start again after being down for 9 months. Link is definitely in my future. I'm gona take it out for a spin tonight and will update you on how it goes. Have u had any experience with adding timing with adjustable cam gears? :hellyeah:

Update: doing good still dsmkauai, I appreciate the help AFRS still holding strong, but I feel like I'm getting trolled on. . I hate that you have to be a probationary member and I feel like anyone that reads that instantly doubts you. I'm probably not going to stick around the forum for long.
