Hi guys. Just finished my rebuild and starting to dial in my tune. I have a few questions and would like some feedback. I have my mods listed in my profile but I'll put them up here too to save some time.
1991 tsi awd.
Frankenstein build. I had a local reputable machine shop build the short block for me . 2g pistons on 1g rods, bored .020 over and milled deck. Acl rods and main bearings, ARP rod bolts, main studs and head studs. Oem mitsu rings, mitsu MLS head gasket. Rebuilt recut head with stock turbo cams, springs etc.
I kept the balance shafts, AEM cam gears, gates Kevlar TB kit. Poly engine mounts, Original flywheel 're surfaced and balanced by centerforce ( their factory is in my hometown ). Centerforce DFX puck clutch.
Fuel system- AEM 320lph fuel pump, fuel lab AFPR, denso 750cc injectors, stock fuel rail.
MANAGEMENT stuff- APEXI afc neo, Apexi Acvr, innovate wideband gauge.
turbo and exhaust- I know everyone will cringe but I am running a cx racing 20G , evo3 exhaust manifold, stock internal waste gate, 3" turbo back Magnaflow exhaust. Punishment racing fmic and stock intake manifold.
So now I have about 1k on the engine I'm fine tuning my fuel maps on the afc neo. I know everyone says that 750's are too big for the neo but I have had good results so far. My AFR tends to stay at 14.7 to 13.0 when cruising and under full boost I'll get average 11.0 to 12.5 I currently have my avcr programmed at 1.45kg/cm2 so it's about 19lbs. Currently the turbo will spool at about 4500rpm and not hit full boost till 5000rpm. I'm wondering is this is normal for a 20g? If I add another 3 or 5 degrees timing by adjusting my cam gears will that help achieve full boost sooner? Any other information would be great too!
