Oil cooler delete - smoking dipstick. Related?

I deleted the oil cooler. Not a desirable mod but the lines were leaking and I kept getting sent the wrong parts. School starts Monday and I've still got other issues to resolve hopefully before then. Im friggin' tapped out of time, cash, and sanity. I've been under the hood all summer and vendors keep sending me wrong/incomplete shit and it's sucked the fun out of the project.

According to this thread the oil cooler isn't vital for daily driving. This car is just my college car.

I rebuilt the motor and replaced damn near everything hoping it will be reliable for the years to come while I'm in school.

I checked the oil after a short drive and the dipstick is smoking? That's never happened before. I'm about 200 miles into my break in. Is it just because the rings haven't seated yet or did the oil cooler delete screw something up? I deleted by taking a short hose going from the send right to the return.

1990's have the air cooler mounted up front. The fittings I was sent didn't have room to fit in the small space where the cooler is. I've already ordered SO MANY parts that won't work I'm just not willing to keep throwing money away and waiting another week to find out I have the wrong f***in' part again.

I run a forward facing filter housing on mine. It doesnt have any cooling of any kind. I have put countless miles with no issues. I doubt its related.

I would recommend checking the PCV valve. Take it off, shake it around and see if it rattles. If it does, its still good, if not, replace it. It's cheap anyways, so I would just go ahead and get a new one (I did, im in the process of rebuilding).

The PCV system "captures" the blowby from the crankcase. A bad PCV valve can create pressure build up in the crankcase and cause a blow out on the front, rear, and many other seals in the bottom end.

Agreed with it likely being unrelated, but here is some food for thought. If you have a turbo engine your oil is also running through your turbo, which is turned by hot exhaust gases, therefore the oil helps cool it(and lubricate it obviously). This all results in a much higher wear rate on your oil as well as higher oil temps. Sure you can get away without it...but you are increasing temps to your turbo now and likely reducing its lifespan. Granted I'm not saying it will fall apart immediately or anything. I realize you are getting screwed left and right by retard manufacturers, but if it were me I'd want my turbo running as cool and efficient as possible.

I love JNZ! It seems like they try to make sure you have everything you need before taking credit card numbers.
I'll throw on a new PCV valve. Good points, cheap and can only help.
I'll likely end up getting the oil cooler back in there next summer I just ran out of time and cash this year. I've spent over a grand easy on bullshit parts after rebuilding the motor, $100 here, $100 there, it adds up quick!
