I just finished my first timing belt job couple days ago everything looks good (timing jumped previous to replacing). Here is my question I want to do compression test check for bent valves any other way to stop the fuel other than pulling the MPI fuse? If not, how much of a mess can I expect and can it cause any damage?

As long as the timing marks were lined up properly and the belts were replaced the right way, the fuse is the easiest way to disable the fuel pump. If you don't you'll flood the engine. Won't do any major damage, but it will suck to get started and may mess with the O2's and cat if its still there. Or it will just start on you every time you try to do the test. I would also suggest a leakdown test in addition to a compression test. Its a little more conclusive.

I agree with ^^^ this. If the car jumped timing when running, more then likely you have bent vents. good luck.

Thanks for reply. I pulled the ignition power transistor and did the test could definitely smell gas but numbers check out good and car fired up right away. So believe all is good after idling for about 2-3 minutes started to get what sounded like lifter tick though. Unfortunately my car is equipped with machine that the fuse had to stay in. Thanks for help
