I hate when people part out cars.

A part out is kind of win/win. We get parts at a "discount" vs new price. And the seller gets more money. We save they earn, we all win. Well, besides the car, but there was so many of these things made. Strip it sell the shell if you can or make your money on the parts and sell the shell for a steal. Beats hauling it to the crusher when your done with it.

I agree with whoever said bring it back to stock and sell it. I did this with my GS. Someone junked a 1g with a good 4g63 in it at my local junkyard. Then took the hood and valve cover off and let the elements get to it. That's just irritating. At least with a part out everything's going to another home and not the crusher.

Being on my...8th? DSM, I can say that the ONLY way i have been able to keep going is through parting out/ buying parts during part outs.

Honestly I feel like a proud father when i see a local DSM'er driving around with my GSX pistons, or another one with my old long block, etc. I have sooo many random parts from previous part outs that have helped others get their car running. Need a random pigtail? I've got you. Fuel pump go out on you? I have three readily available. Melt a fan because you decided to put the dump tube 1cm away from it? I'm on my way.

I know clean shells are getting "rarer", but realistically there are still TONS of shells out there. There's way more pro's to part outs than cons, imo.

Thank you,
Irving

Don't blame the sellers blame the cheap ass buyers. Thinking they can buy cars with 10-15K invested in them for 2K-3K. It is what it is.
:applause:

I can sit here and go on about a lot of things people can do to help prolong, improve, and enrich the community. The fact is, many just aren't willing to do it, especially if it involves money. Try telling the DSMer who is looking to spend pennies on shocks that they should buy Konis because doing so will ensure quality companies like Koni will keep making high quality parts available for our cars... nah, they'd rather just buy cheap KYB OEM replacements that will crap out before long on lowering springs and eventually Koni will discontinue their entire DSM line of products.

And in all honesty, it's tough to expect a person to not part out a car when the difference in return is so huge. Especially if they're getting out of the scene, they won't care much. It's nice seeing this enthusiasm and passion though. Refreshing.

Getting DSM'ers to even get KYBs is a challenge when you can get dumpy low K-Sport/D2/Megan Racing and have them 32 way shock valving "adjustment".

I sold my rust bucket 2G whole for like 1500 bucks with a good six-bolt, shep trans, and some other goodies (Apexi FMIC/Big T28/Zeitronix/DSMLink 2 etc etc). I didn't have the time or space to part it out. It also gave me a bad feeling inside to start ripping things apart. Oh well. It got restored/POR'd and is a daily driver again, so that makes me feel good.

I don't "like" seeing dsms get parted out, but I honestly understand the reasons behind it and am thankful the parts can give others a chance to be back on the road. The only ones that REALLY get to me are the guys who part out galant vr4s.... :0
