Great build man!! Very inspirational. Here you are doing better work than most people and have a ton more obstacles to deal with. Not everyone has single digit temps, tons of snow, and tons of rust to deal with, but youre still working towards a clean DSM. Good for you! I commend you. Very sorry to see the death of a clean 1Ga, Ive been there man.

Frame taco'd, maybe 25 miles on a hot ass engine, Hit by a 16 yr old girl turning left in front of me, had 3 passengers all drinking, wasnt supposed to have ANY passengers on the provisional license laws, beer sprayed everywhere when we hit, and if that wasnt enough one of the chick passengers got out kicked my car and tried throwing punches into my window saying it was my fault. Then when the chick cop showed up, all the drunk passengers were gone and she got it in her head I tried to beat the light, and wrote me a ticket for running a red, despite the fact I was farther thru the intersection and had the right of way compared to the other chick. It was like a twighlight zone episode full of dumb bitches. but... you drink a beer, move on and rebuild...

Thanks for the kind words man! I feel ya, dealing with drunk driver incidents sucks, I cant imagine what its like when you throw a bunch of teenage girls into the equation.. Losing a car that you've put time and money into to make your own is devastating, and something the general public will never understand. I hope your insurance reimbursed you fairly.

Same thing happened to me in my '86 camaro except the old lady driving wasmt drunk.... but pulled out of a parking lot in front of me and made her 4th wreck in 6 months...... yet was still somehow my fault according to the officer and got charged with reckless driving because I was 15, on a learners permit, and dumbly admitted to going 10 over the speed limit LOL.

took me three years to piece it back together and finish it.... your story definitely hits home. Good luck with the build man and keep up the persistence!!

Thanks man will do. Good on you for fixing your camaro instead of giving up on it:thumb:

just goes to show whenever there is an accident start taking cell pictures immediately had a guy hit my jeep with a mustang once and had to do that because he tried to say i brake checked him.... in a lifted jeep i supposedly out braked him then I showed the cop the pictures I had and the fact I was turning left and waiting on traffic... needless to say i won that one. Anyhow nice build man I am loving the body work u have done wish I had those skills

Over all I'm really happy with the results! There are definitely a few runs that will need to be wet sanded out, but there are no dry spots and minimal orange peel. It feels awesome to see something that I've put so much time, effort, and money into finally start to come together.

Its been a while since ive written anything on here, so I thought id give a quick progress update. While I was finishing up the bodywork on the car, the original head gasket gave up the ghost. So I brought the car home via tow truck, and am currently working on taking the motor out of my parts car. The stock motor in my car has not been particularly healthy (low and uneven compression, blow by, and numerous leaks) since I got the car, so swapping in an engine with 30k on the rebuild and a built bottom end is definitely the way to go.

We hit a couple of snags and ended up finishing pretty late. This is my first time pulling an engine, so it was a pretty big moment.

Haha thanks, I haven't really thought much ahead of swapping in the new motor and getting it running. But it'll probably be my daily for the rest of high school.

Possibly the best tool ever..

Yep, those are stock pistons. (I was told it was a .020 overbore with wiseco pistons and eagle rods) :banghead: I was very pissed. Honestly, I had it coming believing someone's word on craigslist. But everything else I was told was true. ARP headstuds, mls headgasket, act clutch, you name it.

At this point, Im not sure what to do. Honestly, whoever did the work on this car was either clueless or very careless. Just to name a few things, they installed the tensioner pulley backwards, put a head stud in upside down, left out a rear engine mount bolt, and there were missing nuts and bolts everywhere. I guess the next step is to do a leak down test on the engine that's currently in my car. If the rings are good, then I guess ill roll with a stock block. More to come soon.
