My fluid pump was not moving fluid, presumably the gears are crushed/shattered from converter not being seated.
The pads were 9/16" from trans case upon install as specified by service manual, however I believe it was only engaged on 2 sets of gears.
Anyways the torque converter will spin it is as far into the trans as it will go. It will spin itself out one set of gears. At this point it will spin all the way around but gets caught up for about 1/5 of the rotation in one area and is tough to spin by hand.
I've tried prying while spinning. I've tried everything to get the converter out. It will not come out. As a last resort I bolted the flex plate to it and picked it up with a cherry picker by the converter. When this is done the converter will bind up and not spin anymore. It will also not come out with any amount of prying, jumping on trans, hammer, sudden jolts.
The converter will reseat in the trans with a hammer and spin normally again.
I am boggled why it will spin but not come out.
I hope I have explained this well. Really need help on this.
