I'll start off by saying that I have been doing research for some time on what tuner or chip to get in my 95 rs. It seems to be running pretty rich, not blowing smoke or anything everything is mechanically sounds just smells like its buring too much fuel. The person I bought it from didn't know anything about cars and the guy before him put in headers and a full three inch exhaust what type or brand i do not know. he also slapped a highflow air filter on with obviously no tune so i believe that the computer is trying to compensate. I've read some threads about changing from the non-flashable ecu to the 97-99 ecu however i don't fully understand what the forums are saying nor how all that works so any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you for the input, and the direction.
No problem man. Just to point you further in the right direction, if you decide to take the plunge:

^this site is THE site for megasquirt, get familiar with it and the megamanual.

If you browse around to the install articles, there is a section on megasquirting a 420a dsm:
How to MegaSquirt your 420A powered DSM

I'm not sure if these were provided in the links I posted previously, but this will get you where you need to go.

If its just headers and intake double check you don't have an exhaust leak. My last 420a had same smell until I changed the headers and fuel filter. For tuning like posted reply above megasquirt best bang for buck when it comes to tuning 420a motors. For exhaust leak test quick when first start car from not running turn car on put hand over muffler if you can hold your hand there without preasure pushing your hand off you got leak.

I did have minor leaks, there were three pin head sized holes in the welds where the resonator bolts to the pipe to the muffler (if that makes sense, it does to me). I patched them with muffler weld stuff, so no more leaking. It smells like that from the back of the exhaust.
