Ok i have a n/a 93 talon 4g63 ant i started noticing that when engine is running temp it has a very erratic (ruff) idle driving is fine till stopping then idles ruff and almost wants to stall just replaced plugs and wires and did a compression check (just checking for a blowed head gasked due to coolant loss) all good checked for spark arcking no arcking also hooked up a timing light to all wires to see how the spark paddern was and when idling ruff all 4 have a erritic spark where should i look next? Coil,o2 sensor, maf sensor, or maby cam sensor

No idle surge plus already modified to cure dsm idle idle is consistant at at abot 600 so just a little lower than the 750 normaly but when warming its at 750

Thats my next move i just started trouble shooting today but it got dark on me but im just kinda getting ideas for deeper diganisis but will be going over all wiring vacum lines and going to check all intake gaskets

Ok read your link good info but lets see if i can give a better discription ias i stated i do not have a surge just a ruff idle it idles perfect when cold but when warm it spits and sputters and sound like it misses idle is a little lower then a few weeks ago but is steady at 600 but is ruff a few weeks ago it was smooth at 750 now the stuff in ## link is good iac works as it should ficv is deleated throttle body is clean butter fly is not wore out checked all wiring and vacume lines egr is deleated not emissions in exhaust new ngk copper plugs yesterday gapped to spek plug wires 2 weeks old old plugs no odd color compression 180 in all 4 do have a slight coolant loss but so minor ive added 1/2 gal in 20000 miles

Clean your throttle body, theres 2 ports on the bottem of the throttle body past the butterfly i think its for the IACV. i cleaned those and the throttle body and my idle has stayed more stable my car used to do that. Worth a try since it only involved a can of carb cleaner

Nevermind thought you had idle surge LOL

Ok can some one guide me to a link for testing the cam sensor but im leaning toward a faulty intake manifold gasket cause yesterday i was checkin it out and grabbed some eather and sprayed the area where the manifold meets the head and it smoothed out and idled up

Well I never tested a cas, never any problems with them. check the plugs, wires, isc, any vacuum leaks, throttle body shaft seals could be bad, biss screw, or the oring.

Me neither but a in take leak is what im leaning towards due to i can spray eather on where the manifold mates to the head and it idles up and smooths out

ok my issue is growing now when cold it idles high and when driving at about 2000rpm steady I can feel the studder

well ive been tied up for a while but ive kept driving the talon and its getting worse it idles horrible wants to stall out ever once in a blue moon ill get a check engine light and at idle it is extreamly rich on fuel itll burn ones eyes out the codes are all diff each time either o2 mass air flow all to do with air or fuel im at a loss on it also im not sure what year the motor is it came out of a doner car I believe its a 92 but don't know how to tell

You can check to make sure the temperature sensor on the thermostat housing is still connected and has not broken loose. It can make it run rich cause the ECU is trying to warm the engine up but it thinks it is still cold.

You can try disconnecting the MAF and see how it behaves then. I had an issue where a 2G MAF was installed and the honeycombs came loose and caused the sensor to malfunction. This caused the car to randomly spudder and stall. ECMLink gave a code saying the MAF had an issue, so I disconnected and it ran, and upon inspecting the MAF that is when I saw the honeycombs.

If you have a spare ECU swap it out and see what happens. Might find one in a junkyard.

If none of the above does anything, just start checking things from the Air filter on down.

One way to tell a early 6 bolt from the later is the oil pan has a dip below the crank. I have a 93 as well and it has an early 6-bolt swapped in.

ok I have tried unhooking the maf and no change no spare ecu but it runs good 3k to limiter so its just a idle issue and ok ill look at a oil pan ive also hear you can tell by the cam sensor

ok fellas what is the test procedure for the coolant sensor my manuel got robbed
