Okay so I finally got my hands on a battery for the GSX so I could start trouble shooting the no starting issue.

I took a spark plug from my Camaro that I know is good and hooked it up to all of the plug wires one at a time. No spark. All the way across the board. Nothing..

Then I had my girlfriend crank it while I tried listening to the injectors to see if they're pulsing. Sounds like there's nothing there either. So what would cause the car to have no spark and keep the injectors from pulsing?

Fuses and relays all good? if so it sounds like an electrical issue or worst case scenario an ECU if both the injectors and ignition coils are doing nothing. Both require a signal from the engine computer to fire, so in between the ignition coils/injectors and ECU something is messed up or the ECU is toast. This is especially true if you have an earlier dsm since theyre known for crap ECU capacitors.

Smells like low tide huh? hahaha
Your best bet is to take it to a electronic shop and they might be able to clean it up and put in some new capacitors if the acid hasnt destroyed the PCB board. Other than that you can buy a used ECU which will eventually suffer the same fate unless you send that one to get new capacitors before using it.

Getting it fixed shouldnt be too expensive. I don't know prices but soldering in capacitors of that size does not seem like a very labor intensive task. The capacitors themselves are pennies, so its mostly labor.

I live in a town with a population of 10,000.... In "hick town"... There are no electronics shops around here LOL. Everyone around here praises carburetors and jacked up trucks haha. So my best bet is to find a used EPROM ECU. Mines non EPROM...

I'm sure you can ship it somewhere, but if you're gonna replace it might as well get the best right? haha, so that socketed EPROM ECU idea is a good one too. I forgot about that one.

I'm sorry that you are the minority with an import against a crowd like that :(. Its similar up here in maine, everyone loves their lifted trucks and think they're the hottest thing around haha.

I just hate the people around here who insist on running tow mirrors on a diesel that never tows anything. The only reason they have a diesel is because they think they're race cars and because they blow black smoke haha

Oh god tell me about it....most of these guys never use the damn truck for what it was designed for. You can't tell me youre towing or off-roading when you have shiny 22" chrome wheels that look like they haven't seen a single spec of gravel. It's a huge joke. The diesel guys around here are usually pretty legitimate and I don't f*** with them on the road, but the gasoline truck guys...forget about it.

Yeah I hear that! So I guess my best option now is to pick up a new ECM?... How much do those usually go for?

$100-$150 here in the classified I believe. What you can also do is this:

http://www.ecmtuning.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=35

They replace capacitors too on EPROM ECU's, so I'm guessing if you convert that non-EPROM ECU to EPROM they can fix the capacitors too which is only $50

www.ecmtuning.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=68

Or you can buy one all fixed and EPROM'd for $245

http://www.ecmtuning.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=41

Give these guys a call or shoot them en email. I'm sure they'll help you figure something out. They know their shit. They only make one of the best if not the best tuning suites for DSM's haha.

Don't mess around, let Tom and Dave @ ECMTuning take care of you.

It's not just a matter or replacing the capacitors at this point but fixing all the circuit traces that have corroded from the old capacitors leaking electrolyte.

I wasn't planning on doing it myself LOL. If anything I was gonna send it to ECMTuning or just buy another ECU. Thanks for all the help guys!

does it smell burn, kinda looks like dirt like the cover was left off. you can get a used ecu out of the classifieds or ebay. ive seen people lift the circuit on bread boards and solder wire in as jumpers. Im sure the capacitors could be match at radio shack. This is worst case scenario. might be able to get to the circuit from the back side, not sure
