Hi all,

My DSM has been sitting in my garage for about 8 months without any use, except for starting it up every once and awhile.

Today, I went to take her out for a quick spin and get some gas. However, once I start going a couple mph, the rear brakes start grinding. The ABS light also came on as well. When braking, there is almost no stopping power and if I hit the brakes hard the brake peddle bounces back at me. I'm not sure what this could be as there were no braking problems when I stashed it in the garage.

Also, when looking at the rotors, the fronts have been braking well and washing away all the rust. The rears, however, have not been doing this. It seems like the rears just do not work at all. Any ideas?

This sound exactly like a problem with one of your wheel bearing, jack up the car and check on play on every tire, a bad wheel bearing would do what you describe about the pedal bouncing back at you.

Have you fixed the problem yet? Mine is doing the same thing. ABS light, rear brakes sticking on the inside of the rotors... Im rebuilding the calipers now, but read somewhere that abs can cause brake failure or loss of constant bake pressure. Any input on this would be great

Before you assume a wheel bearing, you should check for play. After that, I would inspect where your getting noise. You could have build-up at the ABS sensors from sitting a while. Also:
-I would also inspect the rotors and pads and lube them up, and caliper operation.
-Check parking brake operation.
-Brake fluid bleed at all four corners.
-Check ABS fuses as well for a possible simple fix.

id start by bleeding all breaks, have u checked your lines or leaking any fluid, does your pedal ever get stuck? i deleted my abs and i havent seen a breaking issue yet (crossing my fingers)

I had the same exact issue just recently on my gs-t, my rear drivers side brake disc was rusted over and the passenger rear made a grinding noise under breaking. I rebuilt the rear driver caliper and it solved the problem completely. The other side only needed new pads and the disc needed to be grinded clean. I didn't have the abs light on, but abs was an optional extra that i do not have. Hope this helps.
