Okay so i got a 91 laser that had a snapped belt, got it for a steal so i couldn't refuse. Bought a new head got it resurfaced, ordered completely new gasket set, rod bearings main bearings and piston rings, bought new head studs also. Put it all back together didnt run, tore it back apart to find number one piston hit the head 0.o I'm not sure what happened so i got another head had the machine shop completely go through it, ordered another new timing belt got arp head studs head gasket set and new pistons. Put it back together still have fuel spark and timing is dead on, I'm completely lost when trying to start it backfires through intake

Did you inspect the ignition power transistor, and it's wire connector?

Also did you check the mas, and it's wire connector.

check the injector wire connectors and test the injectors with an ohm meter...in fact it might not be a bad idea to go over, and inspect all the engine compartment wire connectors for corrosion, or snapped wires etc.

I thought i had answered this question yes lifters have been bled I'm aware of the issues they cause when not bled, the car is also no longer backfiring through intake.

Will have to try ohm meter, all plug ins logo good with no corrosion. I rented auto ones comp tester, its defective.

Okay guys, i got a compression tester and got 0 10 10 0 and zero. I've searched tuners to make sure i was doing test right and assumed i had bent the valves, well i have the head off and all the valves look to be seated properly with no issues. Please excuse my ignorance throughout this thread i am just truly lost

I just performed fluid test to be sure that valves were seating correctly and all come out good with no leaks.

Well i got a new head gasket, bled the lifters, put it back together, got it in time and guess what, it still doesn't start

Not all valves were open, piston 3 and 4 had one on intake that were slightly open piston 1 and 2 had one on exhaust slightly open, when i did fluid test cams were not installed. When i installed them is when they would crack open just enough that it wasn't visually noticeable, all the valves with heights off were valves that were replaced by previous owner of the head. Had machinist fix them installed head and car started right up. It runs rough though so something still is not right. Springs are factory i suppose

I plan to this weekend, now that I've finally gotten the car to respond i can solve all the problems. I got the car in non running condition so I'm going to double check everything. First time I've ever heard the car start up was the day i had to leave for college.

Alright here a video of how it runs, anyone got any ideas?
