Okay so I'm gonna go ahead and start a progress thread. For those of you who haven't helped me out already around the forums, I own a 1992 Eclipse GSX 5-speed. I traded a Ruger SR40C pistol straight across for it.

Known problems on the car:

Needs paint
Not getting spark
Needs Turbo rebuild

Other than that, it's a pretty solid car. Haven't started it yet because I was busy getting my daily driver running again (1994 Camaro)

I'm planning on tearing into the spark issue as soon as I can get a battery in it. Then I'm gonna take care of all of the maintenance like plugs, wires, timing set, etc... I'll be upgrading to a 16g turbo on stock wastegate pressure until I can get ECM link and some other bolt on's.

But for now, here's some progress pics of how I came across it and how it sits in my driveway right now.

How I found it

Then we pulled it from it's 3 year home in the weeds and this is what we had.

Finally got it home and started cleaning the interior here and there on my days off and on my last day off, I borrowed a carpet shampoo machine from my work and cleaned my seats and carpet. It needs some more work but this is what I have right now. Not too bad for a few hours of vacuuming and cleaning.

Started the Eclipse yesterday for the first time! Put the new ECU in it and it started right up. Even after sitting for so long!

Update! Started taking some piping off the car to inspect for any blockages, rats nests, etc... LOL Not to my surprise at all there was oil in the intercooler piping. The previous owner said that the turbo needed rebuilt. So I took everything apart. After removing the turbo, I found a nasty crack in the hot side. Looks like I wont be rebuilding this turbo. Gives me a good excuse to upgrade to a E316G. Here some pics. Enjoy!

Update. My girlfriend bought me a parts car for valentine's day! Project DSM is underway! Going to pick her up next sunday. It's a 1991 Talon TSI 5-speed. It has the following goodies on it.

MHI Small 16g
Front Mount Inter Cooler
Fuel Injector Clinic 650cc Injectors
Turbo Back 2.5" Exhaust
Greddy knock off BOV
Lowering Springs
Evo 8 MAF
Ostrich 2.0
Only God knows what else LOL

Also comes with SAFC but probably won't need it being that it has freshly installed Ostrich 2.0!
Going to pull off all the goodies and put them on my 92.
Best part is she picked it up for me for only $1200! I'll post up some pics soon!

My woman and I polished up the headlights and fog lights. Here's how it turned out vs how it looked when we started.

Bumper and lights back on the car. Don't have any pics of cutting the crash beam to fit over the front mount.

Relocated the overflow tank. I know I know I know, it looks ghetto. It works great tho!

Tested the lights for grins for the first time since I bought the car last year. To my surprise, they all work great.

I don't have pics of swapping suspension from the parts car to the GSX but this is the finished product after putting the shocks and springs from the parts car on the GSX. Looks way better lowered!

I also added the mud flaps back on the car. For some reason they grew on me. Pics coming soon for that part.

Another update. Pulled the valve cover from the parts car to paint it for my car. Has a couple of imperfections but over all it looks way better than my old one.

I also found out that my parts car has what looks to be a brand new head. That or its just stupid ass clean for having 160 xxx miles.

20150412_140716_zpsiqpal7kz.jpg

Stamp on the front of the head

20150412_140808_zps83efwnkf.jpg

awesome job man, thats the way to bring her back.

that head looks pretty clean, id suspect a rebuild was done at some point, but sitting for a while looks to have stained the aluminum (typical).

i see that #1 looks to have some valve seal leakage likely.

and just to see your response, what the hell, why cant i have a kewl as GF that buys me car stuff instead of whining about what i do for a living...haha awesome find.

I mocked up some stainless hardware on my spark plug cover.

20150413_185021_zpsemzodbec.jpg

Added some color to my BOV. Will be doing the dodge mod soon!

20150413_121148_zpshwi4lag3.jpg

Getting stuff back together. Still need some vacuum lines and t-bolt clamps and some other odds and ends. Starting to look good tho!

20150414_162400_zpsajatsgzl.jpg

Okay so I've made some more progress. No pics though. I got my vacuum lines all done. Deleted the EGR system. Got my coolant lines and oil lines all ran for the turbo. Ran a new coolant overflow tank line. Got the factory radiator fan to fit between the radiator and the j-pipe. I installed my logging cable and tuning cable for my ostrich to my center console for easy access :) On top of all that, I found a guy online that has the exact same setup as me and he sent me the tuning files for my tune. So now my car already has a tune on it for 18psi. It gets closer and closer every day!!! I'm literally like 3 small odds and ends away from this thing running!

I'm still lacking an injector seal for one of my FIC 650's. One of them was destroyed when I pulled the rail from my parts car. And I still need 4 or 5 t-bolt clamps to finish up my intercooler piping.

Oh and I still have to install my boost gauge, oil gauge, and my wideband kit. I'll update with pics soon!

Thanks! I can't wait to have it on the road. I'm sure the suspension bushings are going to need some attention being that it sat for a few years. It's definitely a work in progress. Lol

So I got rattle can happy again. The car had red and orange brake calipers when I got it. Threw some blue on it. Looks way better.
