I just recently purchased a 1g eagle talon tsi fwd. The turbo setup is stock with a 14b. The injectors are also stock. The engine was just recently rebuild. Car seems to be hitting fuel cut around 3k rpm. I tried to do a little digging in the engine bay and the car has a homemade manual boost controller. So i tried to loosen it out as far as it can go and still hits fuel cut around the same rpm. When it hits fuel cut its like hitting a wall sometimes it will shut off if i miss it. Has a boost gauge reading 11 at idle. Not sure how to read these. ( info on this would be very helpful ) Hopefully someone knows the issue and could help. Would love to get the baby on the road soon.

I doubt if your hitting fuel cut with a stock car assuming you have your afpr adjusted properly. Sounds like a boost leak to me. Start off with doing a boost leak test.

What should the afpr be at. And that was my guess I was making sure because the vacuum according to the boost gauge is only 11 at idle

Things that cause a "similar" feeling to fuel cut.

Leaky caps in ECU, I have had them cause a "cut" at a set rpm, new ecu fixed the issue.

Boost leaks, a large enough boost leak will cause a "cut" type feeling, bucking, etc.

Pre-turbine exhaust leak, definitely can cause the "hit a wall" feeling. Looking at your wrapped tubular manifold I would highly suggest unwrapping it and searching for cracks.

I would take the boost controller out of the equation as well to eliminate any worries there, just put the vacuum line straight from the wastegate to the boost source.

Does the car have any tuning mechanisms other than the adjustable fpr ? Is there an AFC in the cockpit or anything ?

37 psi for a 1g. Do you know how to adjust it? take the vacuum line off and hold your finger over it, loosen the lock nut, and adjust it to 37 with the allen key and it will do the rest.

I will have to look at what it is reading thanks, I'm going to try and ur a line to the vacuum source right to the turbo and see if that works if not it's prolly the fuel pressure or a leak
