I have a 2g eclipse gs with a 420a auto that I would like to make a 5 speed. The auto transmission has given me nothing but problems since I got the car. I was just wondering if I were to just get a donor gs with a manual trans if all the parts will transfer with no problems.

Thanks guys

The parts will transfer the only thing you will need to do is drill the holes for the clutch pedal and if it's 95-96 the wires should be the same. I'm going to be doing it to my 99 gs so far the inside stuff is easy just take the driver seat out for switching the manual brake and clutch pedal

im about to do a swap on my 95 rs to a manual haven't had a chance to look at the parts yet but why is the brake pedal needed? also is there anything on the inside of the car that is needed other than the pedals shifter and console?
also I assume that dropping the motor and trans and putting both back in with the new trans. is the easiest way or does it make a big enough deal to leave the motor in

I'm leaving the motor to pull it it's a little harder but I don't want to pull the engine and the brake pedal on the auto is larger then the manual one I would assume that with the clutch it would be really crowded and the site above gives really good information and has pictures

sweet makes sense my car has rear drum brakes and im converting it to rear disc at the same time as the trans swap because I have to pull the consul out anyway hoping I don't tear down my driver and end up taking months to finish the swap what is the site for pics? ive searched everywhere and only found parts list and no pics and not even basic how to's or tricks to make it easier

that's perfect exactly what ive been looking for thanks a bunch ill post again over the swap later

Hey guys. Swaps been done for about a month now. The donor car I got was a 96 and the harness and ECU where different. Currently have the original in the car. I wired in the sensors for the MTX but they're not working. No speedo and no reverse lights. I'm assuming I didn't wire it right. Any ideas? I also used the gaug cluster from my car.

Hey guys hopefully there’s still people on here , I have 1999 eclipse gs auto and I’m looking to swap it to manual really soon , anyone knows exactly what parts I would need to do the conversation , I also am looking to may be beef up the 420a motor but wouldn’t know where to start , any ideas ?
