So to day I tried installing subwoofers with a friend that has never helped me before. Well I routed the 12v line through the steering column. And used my cigarette power line as the remote wire attached to a toggle. Everything was routed though the center console and it wouldn't turn on. Friend suggested I start the car. (And this is why I work alone. Earlier I removed my air filter and maf, so naturally we all know what happened.) Well I never got it to turn on and now I've lost my door curtsey lights, my radio(which is aftermarket and I can't stand since the previous owner installed tweeters that constantly make my ears bleed. I don't know how to remove them, how to remove the radio to look at the back. This entire thing electrically has been a horrible pain) and I've lost a cylinder. So if any one could please shed some light it would be greatly apriciated. All I can see is a yellow wire was out there with tape on it, and a red/blk I think. Maybe just red. It didn't have tape so I tried both but nothing happened. If those are the correct wires could someone show me the fuse. I hate going through them one at a time

Check your radio fuse under the steering wheel as we'll as your cig fuse for the socket ,does your deck not have a antenna wire for the amp usually a blue wire on the back of the deck?

Its a horrifice wiring mess. Its all taped together with black electrical tape and my constant 12v came off and I had to redo that. I found the burned fuse and its all together now, but I don't know what the remote wire is. It seems like my DUAL slide down display doesn't have a blue wire. I honestly want to just tear out all the wires and redo them myself, but that's too much when it works fine

Sounds like you have more than one short in the wiring, few blown fuses, and a headache ahead of you. Honestly with all the mess you describe it sounds like your best option would be to take the car to a shop. I know a few places that might not charge a ton just to clean up the wiring and stop the main shorts. If you want them to install more and get stuff working it might cost you some money but just getting the wiring sorted could be cheap. That would be the quickest and easiest option.

What? Amps are simple. The remote line you described is fine being hooked to the lighter, because the lighter isn't a constant power source. The positive wire goes to the battery positive terminal, it needs DIRECT power. Not power from the steering column. Then make your ground wire as short as possible, within 18" of your mounting location.

The way it sounds like you have this hooked up will blow fuses all day. It needs a crimp ring and connected under the bolt of the battery terminal.

Last but not least, your L/R stereo cable from the deck to the amp. Then hook the subs up. Should take like an hour to accomplish all of this.

I know how to hook up amps and subwoofers fine. The guy before me had no care to do it neat at all so like i said. Its a horrible wiring mess Its hooked up to the battery. There's no power coming off our steering columns. If anything, don't they also work for grounding wires? I'm not gonna do that, but just saying. And f*** yes this thing is a wiring mess. Some how the blown fuse for the curtsey lights and radio made the car run either shitty, or on three cylinders. The guy did some wiring but it looks horrendous. I got the amp working, but its connected to the constant 12v wire. Thankfully I have the remote going through a push button. I live in Valparaiso Indiana. I could go 60 miles one way. Further than that would require more money. Lol

Look for unused wires and see what they are in the manual cause u shouldn't have to use a button to turn the amp on/off my touch screen deck is my push button for my subs

I have to use a button because that's how I installed it. mainly because the stereo that's in the car is like the cheapest peice of shit I've ever seen. Plus thankfully to that toggle switch I can turn it off since I hooked the remote wire to the 12v.
