Hello Everybody,

I’m returning back to the DSM world as I was finally able to find a 98 GSX with partial mods and a blown block (after searching for 7 years). I used to own a 91 GSX that was running low 12’s at the time, and used to be a part of Connecticut DSM club. I’m looking forward to be back and apart of the family once again.

I am currently in the process of the rebuild, the car was already running 10’s when the previous owner through a rod into the block by pushing 25 PSI on stock internals (Really).

There are many performance parts and a new block (.20 over bore) that came with this purchase. I have 2 extra heads (1&2 gens), what seems to be a 1gen performance radiator, stroked rods, 1st gen pistons and rods, extra ECU’s, 3 sets of cams (I believe they are all different) Brand new Wesco Forged rods and pistons, 1000 CC injectors 750 CC injectors, AEM Piggy back system, Precision T3 Turbo, some huge Front mount intercooler. V banded and E85 tuned, with a 255 Fuel pump… With many many other parts.

In the process of pulling the old block, I found that the starter was blown out of the transmission case. The transfer case also was punctured by the rod, through the oil pan. (Good thing I have another transfer case).

I also cracked a piece off of the transmission case, were it bolts to the transfer case and the lower end of the block. Can I use a 1gen transmission on a 98? Where can I find a Transmission in the OKC area? What’s a good price that I should be paying for one? Is it worth it to get a performance tranny? Should I build my own or buy one?

My other questions I will look through the forums.

Any Suggestions, comments, or questions are more than welcomed.

Welcome back I'm not sure about whether the tranny will fit, but if you need one check this site

I've bought parts from them before and they have pretty good prices and really good customer service and the parts are in pretty good condition for used parts. Just email or call them and they'll tell you if they have it or not. It's not exactly local but I figured it was better than nothing.

I am pretty sure that you can not use a 1g trans in a 2g. Well it will but it is far more work then it is worth I believe the 2g trans is better then the 1g anyways. As far as a performance trans that would depend on your set up if you need it or not. Welcome back to the game sounds like a good pick up

Well since I'll have a fully built block. I decided that I should build the heads fully as well. And with the intake and exhaust and fuel systems pretty much completely built, and a piggy back system ready for tuning. I'm looking to try and push around 800+ HP. I know I still have a lot of work to do. Though if I can get a OEM tranny for cheap, and rebuild it to hold up if that would be better than buying a stage 2 or 3 tranny ready to drop?

Hey lets okc DSM ers go for a drive. it would be nice to roll with some poeple with common ground.
