My fluid pump was not moving fluid, presumably the gears are crushed/shattered from converter not being seated.
The pads were 9/16" from trans case upon install as specified by service manual, however I believe it was only engaged on 2 sets of gears.

Anyways the torque converter will spin it is as far into the trans as it will go. It will spin itself out one set of gears. At this point it will spin all the way around but gets caught up for about 1/5 of the rotation in one area and is tough to spin by hand.

I've tried prying while spinning. I've tried everything to get the converter out. It will not come out. As a last resort I bolted the flex plate to it and picked it up with a cherry picker by the converter. When this is done the converter will bind up and not spin anymore. It will also not come out with any amount of prying, jumping on trans, hammer, sudden jolts.

The converter will reseat in the trans with a hammer and spin normally again.
I am boggled why it will spin but not come out.

I hope I have explained this well. Really need help on this.

Holy he'll. Picking up by flex player didn't remove it? You might be able to apply compressed air to the pressure port on the outside of the trans, I think it's one of the cooler ports. And see if it forces the converter off via the pump port. Pneumatic over hydraulic pressure is dangerous so be careful when doing this. But it might work for you

Left it hanging by converter in the air overnight. Still there, no sign of movement.

Gonna pull it Apart with 2 trucks. This is crazy.
I'll let you know how much of the trans is ripped apart.

Wow, Never head of this but i wouldn't run the torque converter again unless it had been disassembled and checked thoroughly. I have an extra converter i may be willing to part with, you probably already priced out the pump too, they are not too cheap. Let me know if you need it.

Maybe I was maybe hanging up all night did some good. I thought I noticed it was a tad further out. 2 pry bars and it came out.
The input shaft splines look fine. No crushed mangled shredded teeth. How was it so jammed in there but it shows no signs of being stuck??

I know it's hard to tell from pics but I see no signs of damage.

I had no gears at all so I pull trans and I can't understand why no gears or why bound!! Please help!

did the trans ever shift good? If not probably the torque converter wasn't seated properly or the alignment bushing was missing causing your converter to go in crooked. If it wasn't seated properly, the pump is likely trashed. Check IPT's Pump video it will show the bushing i am talking about, see if you have yours installed correctly.

The trans shifted, I won't say good as the car ran like crap and studdered and stuff when I bought before I built it. Trans came out got a shift kit and went back in.
The crank pilot bushing was in the crank fully, centered and all. The bushing never came out of converter.
The converter was in the trans 9/16" at time of install as specified by service manual.
However, when install the converter would drop in deeper to the trans, 1" deep actually, to pads, the correct measuring spot, but I set it at 9/16" since that's what manual specified.
I wasn't very well versed in autos at the time.

I later found out that this might be an issue and might have crushed the front pump snout.

I hope this makes sense. Basically, the trans was an oddball from the get go, how could it go in almost a 1/2" deeper than supposed to?
It was set at 9/16" and never shattered pump gears but also never moved any fluid. What gives?

Still at a loss as to how the converter was stuck in the trans without the pump gears being crushed, and how no fluid was being moved.
However I did pickup another trans but the bell housing is broken, and it is an earlier model with the selector having a pigtail. Are the bell housings swappable, after removing the pump?

Got the pump out. Here's what the snout looks like. This still doesn't explain why I had ZERO fluid, IMO.

Installed a used pump in the trans and used another torque converter. Now I have reverse and L gear. What could be the issue? I made sure the solenoid and pulse generators are not swapped. Fluid level is full.
Torque converter stalls up in D but doesn't engage the gear.

Any help?
Also, at the end of testing, something burnt up,(based on smell) possibly end clutches? But not positive it was trans related yet.

If you still have a TCU, check for codes..

Checked for codes. Could t get anything with digital multi meter.
Here's what I've done.
Inspected valve body for orings not sealing pulse generators ect.
Replaced valve body with another used.
Swapped end clutches with another used.
Refilled trans with 7-9 qts and almost full qt in conveter.
Unplugged tcu to try to get limp mode 3rd. No avail.

I have a solid reverse gear.

1st sucks but it's there.
I sort of have a drive. At 3k rpm it doesn't want to move. When shifted to D it wants to move but loses momentum. I was able to put it in D pull forward shut down and try again. Next time there was no drive.

What is my process of elemination.
If I've elimated tcu, valve body and end clutches then it could be

Front clutches
Conveter.
