Has anybody seen or heard from bogusSVO? I have been trying to get in touch with him for about 2 weeks now. I have called his shop with no avail, just a busy tone. I've seen he hasn't been on tuners since the 14th of last month.

I'm just hoping all is well with him. Any info would be great, thanks!

He's healthy and well. The recent flooding Pensacola suffered forced him to do repairs to his shop and that put him way...way behind on all of his builds. He's not out to screw you, he's not laughing the way to the bank, just extremely overwhelmed. I'm not making excuses for him, I'm just a local and went to see him couple days ago, and check on the progress of my build.

Thank goodness! I have nothing, but respect for him. Him running off was the least of my worries.

I just seen he hasn't been on in a while, which was very odd and strange. He was on here daily always helping:thumb: I figured something bad might have happened.
Glad he's doing well!

Same here. Sent him a PM maybe 3 weeks ago about sending my head to him. No word back. He's gonna be swamped with work if there's a thread JUST about him hahaha. Ive decided to get my work done elsewhere, no biggie. Hope he is doing well. This board needs that guy. So knowledgeable, but friendly as well. A rare commodity around here. usually one or the other!

I hope Bogus recovers soon! I sent my head and parts to him in mid March (3 1/2 months ago) and haven't really heard much of anything since! :idontknow: Bummer because my goal was to put my car back together before summer got here. Guess I'm going back to square one and trying a different machine shop. My patience is pretty much gone at this point, it's pretty hard to just write off $700+ hard earned dollars. :banghead:

Try two grand, parts and labour, like at what i was told was a reputable shop in-city which turned out afterwards have no idea about the requirements of a turbo engine (media blasting the head's mating surface will seal fine, they think, and overspray onto the cam journals is ok too). That block now sits in a plastic bag in a garage, and has for years, and i sold off the head they boned.

It might suck for a bit but stay with the experts and be patient. Even though i dont have personal experience, any that do have a very short list of vendors here that are worth it and bogus is one of them.

I know bogus(Dale right?) does great work but i was just looking at a SIM head. Stage 2 is 1100 bucks. I mean, thats even with kiggly beehives. Thats really not bad at all. Im most likely sending them my head if they can put together a package deal on a full gasket kit/L19s, gates blue belt... I just have to get off my busy ass and send my cams to delta for the "conversion" to Kelford spec.

I feel ya. Goin on 3 months here and not a peep. Wish I just had a general idea of when it will be. Or at least a way to get a hold of him so if I decide that I want to try another shop I can get my stuff. Hopefully it'll be before summer is over

Well, while Bogus is catching up, I confirmed SIM will do a nice package deal. Spoke to a guy on the phone. Their prices on L19s/gasket kit/gates blue along with the head are REALLY good. I didnt ask but i think the turnaround is rapid with them. On the site it says "usually ships in 3to5 days". I didnt ask the guy on the phone cause im not at that point yet but im most certainly going with SIM. If i get a spare minute this week im going to place the order and ship the head off.

Hope you guys get ahold of bogus. When you have a project planned and hit a snag witht he machinist/mechanic it can throw you off. Been there.

The one thing that really scares me is that Dale said he lost all of his notes and computer. He asked if I had a either a 1g or 2g casting. I hope all of my parts I sent with are accounted for and they'll make their way back to me eventually.

But in the meantime I did score a brand new oem head off of ebay, $400 shipped to my door!

He just finised my shortblock and head yesterday. I'll post updates when I can but I haven't been on here as much lately. If anyone needs/wants to discuss anything Dale related, it's easier to contact my on Facebook. Scott Laird and my license plate is my picture (EATS V8S).

Have a lot of dsm'ers on my FB cause I tune Link on the side to make some bucks anyway. Not sure when I'll be picking up my block and heads yet.

Well I was just reading this thread and all I have to say I am glad he's alive! Usually when someone drops off the face of the earth its not good. Especially a reputable person like dale!

I'll "maybe" post more about my experience after I get my engine back. Undecided at the moment.

If you do, pull the entire head down including removal of the oil galley plugs and wash it with degreaser, water, and blow everything out with compressed air before you even think of bolting it to your engine. Twice. Trust me.

Awwww shiiiiit. Man, are you serious? Dude, I cant go through ANOTHER bad machinist. I just cant do it. So now ive paid all that money and im gonna have to do MORE work on what should be a pnp head. Ok, I will take your word and do just that when i get it. I'll put in my build thread and post a review of the quality and plenty of pics as well.

Glad I found this thread. My friends and family have been suggesting I take legal action against Dale. After all, it's been a year and lots of excuses. Patience is a virtue after all.
