One night i was just driving around and neutral dropping my car. (Yes I know, that was idiotic and regret so much) Long story short every gear acts like its in neutral.
I neutral dropped three times that night and on the third time it shifted hard and the now all the gears dont work. I dont understand why all of the gears would stop working and not just drive... Does anyone know whats wrong or if this requires a new transmission. im hoping its just the pump that went out and the fluid isnt going through but idk.. any suggestions?

I know this might be irrelevant but I occasionally drive my dads corvette its an 05 base model c6 and its auto, I realize you are manual but one night after the movies I got in the car and every gear (reverse, drive, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) all acted as if it where in neutral and park worked fine. by some black magic it worked after about 30 minutes and I got home safely. When I got home I turned off the car for a couple minutes and started her back up and it started doing it again. I told my dad we should take it to a shop after I looked around and figured out it was the shifter cable that had messed up so that could be your problem but if its not i apologize im just trying to help.

I dont think its the shifter cable. Also i have an automatic not a manual. But my dad looked around in there a bit and he would of known if it was the shifter cable. Im going to pull one of the fluid hoses and put it in gear and see if fluid comes out. If it does, then I know the pumps okay, if not atleast I know the problem.

Think you lost the pump why it will not engage in any gear.
You also could be very low on tranny fluid which will do almost the same ... along with burning up the clutches if the fluid level is very low.

Cause:
Neutral dropping did it I bet ;)

he probably destroyed the whole transmission and gave up because he hasn't been on tuners in 2 years

I had a kickdown band brake on me in my auto and I lost 2nd and OD

I imagine it was a nightmare in that case

Did you ever find out the cause of this issue?

I just had this issue come up in my 95 talon while driving with the shift box. Turned out to be a majorly clogged trans filter. Got lucky that's all it was LOL.
