Im trying to decide between getting an oem or a cx racing aluminium radiator. At the moment i dont have the money for fal or any decent slim fans and was wondering if the stock fans would still be able to fit with the cx racing radiator. I know they'll bolt up however im not sure how tight the clearances in the bay will be.

Clearance will depend on your piping for your front mount. If the stock fans and shroud fit before it will probably fit with the cxracing rad

If everything cleared with stock it will work no problem. What caused your radiator to blow? It will probably be cheaper to buy a used factory or take yours to a local radiator shop and have it rebuilt. This is cause you said low budget if you have the extra cash the cxracing is not a bad radiator.

The nipple that the upper radiator hose slips over disintegrated

Cxracing radiator fits in just like oem on only thing is it has bolts spots for three bolts per fan vs four four each and the radiator is not a straight build. The one I got one side of radiator had curve on side wall instead if straight and even. But works fine have not had issues yet.

CX is high quality actually. I have one. Fits perfect. With AC, PR fmic and down firing snail. Had to trim pass. fan shroud but that would have been the case no matter what, stock or mishimoto,cx, etc..

To get the drivers side(AC) fan to sit flush you have to get some washers, widen out the fan mounts and figure it out. Very very simple and quick job and after its done it will sit flush just like stock does.

Thanks guys...Ii ended up getting a bs inspection ticket in the car I was borrowing so i bought the cheapest radiator I could find on ebay... It was like $53 and showed up in two days, it was packed nice and i was shocked to see the fins on the ebay radiator were more tightly configured than the oem

yea it should bolt right up
Free Tip: Don't forget to cover the new radiator with card board when you snake it in front of the engine, it will help keep you from bending fins on the exhaust manifold, just don't remove the card board until its bolted to the frame securely and you should be good.
thanks i never thought of that... i got the new radiator in no problem though

Glad to hear it.
Yeah I helped install a turbo on a buddies dsm, and I used the cardboard trick, before putting the new turbo on it.
it saved us, there was a scrape on the cardboard and if the card board was not on there, who knows what damage it would have caused to the fins...

But if your careful when install the radiator, you can do it without using cardboard, but I always like to have the safety margin myself.

i recently picked up an older cx racing radiator used for my 1g and its a perfect fit. make sure your drain plug isn't slowly leaking they like to do that on the aluminum radiators. teflon tape fixes it just fine if you dont wanna get a new drain plug. I don't know about the 2g cxracing stuff but my 1g radiator has impressive quality and fits perfectly.

with any aftermarket aluminum rad. be careful when working under the hood after a run. they get quite hot on the surface. burned myself many times.
