Hello, im going to be rebuilding the engine in my 98 GS-T and was looking around or what kits to buy, im going to be replacing pretty much every thing, but looking online everyone seems to be pretty torn on the quality of the engine rebuild kits available on ebay, but after reading through most of it I was just planning on using the minor stuff and misc gaskets, so I probably wont be using the headgasket or the timing belt from the kit I was looking at. http://www.ebay.com/itm/260694447316?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Has anyone ever used this kit before from this dealer?

also can someone recommend me a good brand of timing belt to use, I was looking at the OEM Mitsubishi one on STM, I also was looking at gates, im trying to find something that was cheap but of a decent quality? along with that what brand of head gaskets are good? I hear that Cometic HGs are the way to go, but that's a bit pricey for me, along with those things, i was thinking of getting a balance shaft eliminator kit, originally i didn't want to but now that i think about it i do want it, i was looking at the kit from the same seller on ebay that is selling the kit im looking at buying-http://www.ebay.com/itm/221331446417?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 has anyone here tried this? my main concern is whether or not they are reliable or should i just spend the extra money and get the one from somewhere else

my motor is pretty stock, and I plan to keep it stock for a little while longer, so not really looking for any super fancy race quality stuff.

Honestly I would stay away from the rebuild kits, there is generally a reason they are as cheap as they are, I would piece together my own kit personally. For BS delete, be careful which kit you buy, some of the stub shafts in some of the kits don't have a groove or hole(can't remember which it is) that they need to have. For the timing components I would stick to OEM, they are critical and can cause catastrophic damage if they fail. As for the gasket I would stay away from the aftermarket MLS gaskets, you have to have a good flat, smooth head and block surface for them to seal properly.(ie. head and block need milled).
I would probably pick up a quality set of hypereutectic pistons, an OEM HG and timing kit, a quality set of aftermarket bearings(stay away from bimetal/aluminum bearings, use the trimetal ones), ACL is a popular choice for our cars, and what I personally used on my rebuild, Oil pump I would inspect carefully and replace with OEM if needed, make sure you do NOT use a gasket on the oil pump, it is not meant to have one, and you will create clearance where there isn't supposed to be any, also the oil pans are supposed to have an RTV seal, not an actual gasket, I've read of people having issues with either or sealing correctly though. Everything else I would probably just order from rock auto. I deliberately stay away from ebay stuff unless I absolutely can not find a part.

ok cool I've found pretty much everything I need, but the only thing is that Im still looking for pistons, I hear that NPR/Nippon are oem pistons. im only looking for oem since I still have the stock t25 running stock boost, so manley or wiseco are a bit too pricey for me since Im not making that much hp.

Are you actually going to measure things and get machine work done? Otherwise there isn't even any point in getting pistons.

Machinist first THEN buy the pistons. But yes, the NPR are stocker(ish). People have run them pretty damn hard. If it were my money i would splurge for any number of reputable aftermarket pistons out there. They're really not that expensive. But, if stock is your build and you have no major future plans power-wise then the NPRs are a good bet. They come with a free Diane Rehm doll!!!!

Edit: heres a certain person running NPR pistons http://www.dsmtuners.com/dsm-profiles/landspeed-dsms-eclipse-gst.9719/

I second splurging on forged pistons. They can take more abuse and tend to be lighter. Ross is a good inexpensive brand you might want to check out.
