Ok so my friend was driving my car cruzing at 60 then we noticed a little bit of smoke coming out of the ac vent didnt pay an mind to it then the temp gauge started rising a bit then poof! A big puff of white smoke in my rear view mirror went on the break down lane and I see a trail of oil and coolant... is my head gasket blown?

Well thanks for a picture well there is a hole so you have to deal with that no way around it pull the pan and inspect for more damage so you and us can actually see the whats going on rather than guessing.

I noticed most of you guys have 1g dsm maybe the oil pan is different for 2g im just taking a wild guess and im getting a new oil pan this friday im gonna replace it to stop the leak then fill it with oil and see if the car will turn on because I haven't started it since the incident a lot of people are telling me its a blown rod or piston that shot out threw the bottom ill find out friday thanks everybody

Is your car a 4g63t or no?

The 6-bolt and 7-bolt motors have different oil pans but visually they're very similar.

You're going to be in for quite a disappointment if you just replace the pan, fill with oil, and start it up. The hole is 100% from something trying to (and probably managed to) get out of the pan. I would also be worried about what looks like a blown out bolt hole or something in the upper left corner of the picture. The pan looks deformed.

Not necessarily disagreeing, but there is no way in hell something did that from inside the engine and the only symptom was "a little bit of smoke coming out of the ac vent <and> then the temp gauge started rising a bit".

I'm still waiting for what really happened. :)

I wanna say, Maybe part of your rotating assembly went out the oil pan.

It looks like what ever caused it, came from inside the engine, because the holes protrude outwards, as though some thing inside struck through It.

At this point It would be wise to pull the oil pan, and inspect it all with a bright led flashlight, your looking for signs of, metal flakes, any signs obvious wear, and or damage.

Yes, you're right. It's a little funny how he just keeps avoiding that topic.

IF something is in there that was thrown hard enough against the pan to cause what i see, then you would have heard loud clunking for a split second then most likely the engine would be locked up. I cant wait to see the pics inside.

Yeah thats whats odd about all this,
but then again what could have punctured the pan like that from outside?
at this point I guess it's all just mere speculation.

Exactly, that sure does appear to come from the inside the way its bent OUT. These cars do some really really weird shit so nothing would surprise me anymore. haha

Op: good luck man and show us plenty of pics. Get some good shots

Yea I will im getting the pan tomorrow this is going to be interesting if I find out my motor is toast which it probably is I might end up selling or doing a 6 bolt swap

before putting anymore money into your car take the quick few minutes and pull your oilpan, to inspect the bottom end.

:aha:

There's his problem. Someone stole his transfer case.

Or it never existed [maybe he is fwd]...:hmm:or he removed it for the photo, and forgot to inform us in this post.

And if his transfer case had indeed fell off...:idontknow: wouldn't there be a possible fire/sparks explanation in his story, to go along with the long trace evidence of oil, the high coolant temp gauge, and don't forget the white smoke and magic that he already had described.

Yep motors done found a hole in my block
