On my 6bolt quarter master v-drive setup I am getting some bad chatter when I depress the clutch. The clutch operates fine will engage and disengage normally and drives ok. But anytime the clutch is pressed I get a bad chatter sound coming from trans. I can't find any metal shavings inside the bellhousing so I'm not sure what could be causing this. I have a comp works arm that has been grinded on and a brand new oem throw out bearing. Any help would be great.

Yamahaulin,

Without any sign of improper install or other issues (TOB, fork, can't shift, etc.), I would say the chatter is 100% normal. My friend's QM 8 leg on his EVO 8 chatters during clutch depress as does my Comp Twin on the DSM as does the Exedy Twin on my EVO 8. Chatter is an "understatement" for my Comp Twin.

That being said, even with the chatter, I will always run a twin tor triple just because they perform so well. I'm never going back to single. So, happy 4th, follow the break in/adjustment procedures, and go take that beast to the track and enjoy amazing shifts!

Double check you aren't over extending the pressure fingers. Common issue with twins when not adjusted properly. (Ask me how I know smh) it should disengage 2-3 inches from the ground if it's higher than that and you hear loud screeching or chatter gets louder most likely over engaging.

Will check the disengagement. The noise definitely doesn't sound good though.

As lil corb said correct engagement height is very important on the twin disks. Your engagement should be a lot lower then that of a single disk setup. If setup correctly and you still hear the noise, it's most likely is normal. My qm twin disks that's setup correctly makes a lot of noise. People who don't know much about cars usually thinks there is something wrong with my car.

Any chance you can post a video of the noise Yamahaulin?

Moved disengagement a bit and did'nt really help, I can't move any more or I get a bit of clutch drag so I am going to say it's just normal noise. I don't have a video but the best way to describe the noise would be sounds like a washer is vibrating on a loose bolt when the clutch is depressed. The noise can be heard fairly easily from inside the car even with the windows up over a rather loud exhaust.

Twins will chatter when disengaged, it's the floating disc(s). My QM makes plenty of noise.

Verify you've got it adjusted correctly and then you just get used to it and the short chirp when you re-engage

Yeah, twins are noisy for sure and like it was already said by Killa_dsm most people who don't know think there is something wrong. LOL If they only knew how much power those noisy things can hold.:shhh:
