Thanks John, I'm sure it will hold up on my race can lol. Real spool would be nice, I doubt I'll break these spider gears, they're pretty big along with enormous cross shaft. If it breaks, then I give up, cause obviously I'm doing something wrong.
Devin most definitely converted to a 3kgt rear last season. My car weighed around 2450 with me race ready. Mostly 1.4 60fts , but my clutch releasing was not smooth, resulting in the breakage. Started getting better at the end of the season. Never broke a rear until I went full slick.
I bought...
I'm not sure what the auto 3kgt gear ratios are. The older 5 speed 3kgt rear is the same as a manual dsm, the newer 6 speed 3kgt rear ratio is the same as a auto dsm.
Far as I know from talking to a few guys that's raced and built 800 - 1000 hp 3kgt said they have not seen one break. Boostin performance is running the same setup, and has 6 7 sec passes without an issue.
They're strong enough to make it worth the swap. And you can have dss level 5 axles for...
I was breaking ring and pinions, then got the diff cover from Andrew and then broke a few sets of spider gears in the rear. So had the rear welded, and still broke another ring and pinion. And every time I'd break a rear it would take out the output shaft in the trans.
Not really a big swap...
I am able to use the dsm driveshaft, with drilling new holes on the pinion flange, the yoke locks right in just need new holes drilled. I'm using the 3kgt cups with custom length dss bars. The 3kgt wheel hubs that the axles bolt to, bolt right in a dsm.
Hey people, haven't posted on here in a while, figured I'd give some updates on the car for those that haven't been following on facebook. After a tough last season I finally got that 8 sec pass with a holset, yeah it wasn't a stock hx40, but still an hx40 with a bigger compressor wheel. After...
First pass attempt, didn't have my footing right on the clutch peddle resulting in a super bad launch.. But anyhow was trying a new helmet mount for the gopro, and I really like the view!
First outing on the new turbo, we seen 75 lbs/per min at 35psi in first gear, the car ended up blowing another rear diff before I could make it into 2nd gear, so the turbo is definitely moving way more air! And to be honest I couldn't tell if the turbo spooled slower, felt the same as the...
