in the biz alot is luck, and what you drive and who you know and where you have been and how pretty your resume is. I just switched from midas to a import shop and its a small shop. they dont care about ase stuff or tech school, alot depends on your tools and a fancy box.
alot of these so called mechanics could'nt even pass as lube techs. they would get a eco tech motor and be scratching their heads looking for the filter lol, and alot of cars are going to that. I hope it doesnt catch on personally but oh well.
tech school is great if you're 18 and think you wanna change your oil lol. or want to understand how a/c systems work. they take your $ and give you the basics. People in the biz know if you're green or not and don't want you if you are. Its sad but its true. and Wyo tech is way more reputable...
